what are the best colleges in California give a list.

That would depend on your criteria and how you define “best”. :)

By reputation alone, you might want to consider these:
Private:
-Stanford
-Caltech
-Pomona and Claremont Colleges
-University of Southern California
Public:
-UC Berkeley
-UCLA

However, selecting a college should generally involve considerations other than just the college’s name and reputation.

Am i on track
i want to make sure i get into UCLA
okay pepes my GPA is a 3.5 i Am a SOPHOMORE i have no AP classes yet but i will have two next year i did 5 hours of community service and was rewarded by the national health department i was in the junior cadet class i love reading political science books and love tennis do i have a chance from now oh yeah i was ranked 176 out of 1376 freshman’s also African American AND I AM IN YOUNG BLACK SCHOLARS PROGRAM

First, the obvious: get the best GPA and SAT/ACT test scores you possibly can.

You are currently shy of the top 10 percent mark so work to get your GPA up. Definitely take more APs and try to get As in them.

Strive to add some “leadership” positions to your application. This can be president or VP of a club (doesn’t have to be a major club…anything really.) Could also be tennis team captain, co-captain, or pres-treasurer-etc leader of a church youth group or something you’re involved in outside of school. Points for leadship can make a difference in a very competitive applicant pool.

Do a good job on the personal statement. I think applicants sometimes think the essays aren’t important when applying to public universities…I think they are at UCLA.

My list would be
Stanford
Cal Tech
Pomona
Cal
UCLA
