Hi,

I'm taking the SAT next week, but I'm not always able to come up with examples for the essay. I've read classics like Frankenstein and LoTR, and can bring up a few examples from history, but I still can't think up examples to fit some of the prompts I know of.

What are the best examples from history/literature/pop culture that can be used to fit a variety of prompts?

Thanks ^^. I really need to learn some examples fast, lol :).

I used WW2 and Julius Caesar (the play) extensively

For WWII, did you just learn about the major events (what led to it, etc.?) or things like battles and minor figures as well? I’ve been reading about it in my history book and on Wikipedia, but the latter tends to show pictures of the Holocaust and things like that :/. -wishes she weren’t so squeamish-

I’ll get the Julius Caesar play off the Project Gutenberg site too, btw.

Some people I know use scientists a lot, like Edison, Newton and Einstein. I don’t know for what prompts specifically, but they say it’s useful

I’ll look them up on Wikipedia, thanks - that’d be fairly useful for “science/technology” prompts, I think.

I honestly think you should just use what you know and make sure to use more than one. On my May SAT I used what I thought were the worst examples because they were 3 works by the same author, but I knew them well so I got a 10.

History and literature
