JWT...better than Michigan LSA honors?

That I honestly don't know, but UT's Plan II is definitely one of the most respected of all the honors programs out there.

i heard uc irvine's program is also very good

The University of Washington Honors Program is also very good. It's highly selective but is a phenomenal program. http://depts.washington.edu/uwhonors/

BHP at UT Austin. :)

Michigan's honors program is great, but they are the most expensive state school in the country for out-of-state residents. You will spend the same as going to a top private university.

1MX,

You're confusing several honors programs at UVA. There are 3 basic ones:

The Echols Scholars Program which is administered through the College of Arts of Sciences.

The Rodman Scholars Program which is administered through the Engineering School.

The College Science Scholars Program.

But the most prestigious UVA scholars program is The Jefferson Scholars Program where you get a full ride, can participate in leadership workshops, and can partake in Jeff Scholars-only foreign study programs in England, Italy, Japan, China or Tibet. Most Jeff Scholars are also Echols, Rodman or College Science Scholars as well.

But are they in the 7 Society......

How are you all making determinations as to which are the best honors programs? It seems like I'm seeing a lot of "my school offers this" and "my D / S went here," but I would be interested in metrics in rating these, just as we all use metrics for evaluating schools in general.

UT's Business Honors has an average SAT of 1470 and an average class ranking of top 1.8% (2006 statistics), not to mention that some form of leadership is required to even be considered.

W&M is an honors college unto itself.

"Michigan's honors program is great, but they are the most expensive state school in the country for out-of-state residents. You will spend the same as going to a top private university."

True, but then again, Michigan (honors or not) is as good if not better than most "top private universities".

I think Penn State Schreyer Honors College was rated by Readers Digest to be the best in the nation.

would assume the best public honors programs are those at the best public universities...

umich, uva, unc, ucla, ucberkeley, wisconsin, w&m

Berkeley does not have an honors college. This is because all students are honors level anyway and it would be considered redundant...:p
