What are the best schools for me?

Hello! I am highly interested in entering the political field as a political operative. I have no idea what colleges would be a good fit for undergraduate as a political science and communications double major. My stats are as follows:

GPA: I will be a junior at the start of next school year, but when I graduate I expect my GPA to be a 4.7 (weighted).
SAT: I expect high 700s in CR, 500 or 600 in M, and 700s in W.
ECs: Eagle Scout, President of Political Science Club, Church Youth Group, Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, German Club. I also volunteer at a Cub Scout Day Camp for one or two weeks every summer.

I also plan on interning for a local politician at some point.

I am a highly motivated and skilled student (although not so talented in the math or science areas).

I am looking for the best colleges (that will accept me) for building a strong background in politics. Prestige is a big deal to me, but please don't just list Ivy Leagues, seeing as I won't be accepted.

Money is a pretty big issue as well

I feel like I should add some colleges that I’m somewhat interested in… (no particular order)
-Oberlin
-Davidson
-Pitt (I’m from PA)
-PSU (again, PA schools)
-Lehigh
-Lafayette

Please feel free to recommend other schools though!

Thanks!

Since you are interested in politics, what about the DC schools?

GW
American
GTown (I know GTown will probably be a reach, depending how you do on your Math SAT; however, I hear that they weigh GPA and class rank heavily.)

GW is extremely far outside of my financial reaches… American interests me though, thank you for that recommendation. How much of a reach is GTown for me?

How much of a reach GTown will be ultimately will depend on how you do on your SAT. I don’t know their mean/average SAT score for last year, but you should be able to find it on their website (or here on CC.) If you haven’t already taken the SAT, practice/prepare for Math as much as possible. I know the GTown is expensive as well. :(

If you have the time and means, I would recommend visiting DC and checking out American, as well as the other schools you are interested in while school is in session. I think this is the best way to see where you will be a good fit and can see yourself attending.

Best of luck!
