What are the chances for a Canadian

Hi, I'm from a small city in British Columbia, Canada and I'm a incoming senior. I know that this is suppose to go to the "What are my Chances" thread but Berkeley is my dream school and I think the people in this forum would be more informative since many of you have gone to Berkeley. My school has sent a few students to top tier universities but it is mostly average suburban high school. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this!

Should I retake for a higher SAT?

Since I'm from Canada, we don't have that many awards or honour awards like the National Merit or AP scholar which kind of sucks. Most of my awards have been music related anyways.

Performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
Canadian Music Competition- Provincial Qualifier
Canadian Association of Physicists High School Exam - top 15%
Sir Isaac Newton Physics Open- top 10%
Canadian Physics Olympiad National Qualifier
Physics Regional Olympiad- Silver Medal
Numerous other music related awards....

Research at Biotrek (10-12) - Bioengineering program for selected students in UBC.
Research at the Canada Heart and Stroke Foundation (12)

Hooks:
None really, no legacies because I am a first generation immigrant.

I know the international pool is going to be extremely competitive pool but I really do want to try. I appreciate any comments about my chances or any suggestions.

Does the fact that I didn't win any major science competition matter if I want to major in some sort of engineering?

Whoooo Fellow BC friend!!!

Anyways, I got in with lower stats but stronger EC’s and leadership and my essays were strong as well.

I’d say you have a pretty good shot (low reach) for Letters & Sciences, but be aware that the College of Engineering is SUPER competitive, especially if you are an asian male (I don’t know your race, but for example).

Don’t neglect your essays, get started now and have everyone you know help you with them. The UC’s value them a lot!

I wish you all the best! Gotta represent Canada :)

Thanks jojomonkey, Canada all the way ;D

bump bump !
