What are the chances for a transfer like?

Hey everyone,

I'm here at Colby College and was just wondering what a White Mule would need to pull, as far as grades, etc., to transfer into Dartmouth? I'm new at the transfer thing, and am jsut really inquiring as to the whole process at Dartmouth.

Right now I am a Freshman taking two upper level classes (Ecology of Wildlife Diseases, and German 127), Calculus 121, and Astronomy 151. I'm most likely a Bio major, and should pull a 3.5 or above total for this semester (so far it's a 4.3 in Ecolo., 4.0 in Astronomy, ~ a 3.0 in German (blah, I know, but hey, I haven't taken German in a year and a half, so I'm steadily improving as time passes), and a 3.0-3.5 in Calc.

I'm involved, so far--heh, it's only been two weeks-- in the swim team, water polo, the a capella group "The Blue Lights," and Colby Christian Fellowship. My SAT scores were 680M and 740V (not too great, I know).

Anyways, what is applying transfer like and what does one need to have a good shot at it?

I'm not really considering it, I'm jsut wondering, because i applied to Dartmouth and was rejected, and was jsut wondering if in the future I ever wanted to, what it would be like.

thanks :-)

werD

I think you need to get the GPA up to have a shot, somewhere near a 3.6-3.7. Also, this year is a wildcard due to the Tulane exchange kids, so its anyone's guess...

can you elaborate on NO situation and transfers? has the administration indicated that it will change their numbers? Thanks!

I have heard that it will impact the transfer situation, but I am not sure how much at all...they will always let in a few, there are usually between 16 and 40 spots in the class.
