What Are The Chances For Me Of Getting Into UF?

Race: Caucasian
GPA: Unweighted is 3.0 and weighted is 4.2
Sadly first semester of junior year I was out for like twenty days because of surgery and strep throat and that killed my unweighted.
ACT: 29 composite; 27 reading, 33 math, 30 science, 25 writing combined with essay
SAT: 1800 :S (Kind of a bit annoyed with this)
EC: Secretary of Science National Honor Society. Many hours put into that club
Active member of Mu Alpha Theta(Math honor society) with 100s of hours invested last year as well as a 4 day states competition.

Their transcripts are due by December 1st and I'm curious if I should go ahead and take the SAT one more time or will that hinder my chances.

I'm applying for Summer B 2012 if that means anything, everyone tells me it's "easier" to get in that way. I'm also native born to Florida.

This school is my top choice as for me its affordable and just seems like a wonderful learning experience.

Many Thanks.

On a second note,
I’m an AP Scholar and
I qualify for being a national member of Mu Alpha Theta (if that’s even an award)

I’ve also taken 12 AP’s in high-school, after senior year.

The GPA is probably what is going to be your biggest drawback. Two years ago their admissions rate was something like 54%, this year it’s going to drop down to like 30%, as their projected applicant pool has shot up by more than twenty two thousand applicants. It has me terrified, because UF is my dream school.

Three years ago, one of my close friends got in on a 3.0, might have even been a 2.9, one honors course, no AP. His SAT was almost a 2000 on the new scale though, and he had quite an impressive essay topic as well.

But don’t give up. It will honestly probably be a bit of a reach for you, (it probably is for me, too, and I’m also applying Summer B, lol), but I say go for it.

I went to their tour a few weeks ago (campus is stunning, by the way) and they said testing in November is calling it close, but as long as there are no delays, you should be okay. It won’t hurt your chances.

Good luck!

I’ve been on a tour myself, it’s just simply so much to take in. By the way I have a 4.2 GPA >.<, 3.0 is my unweighted. I’ve taken almost all Ap’s and honors my entire highschool life.

Yeah, I know. But they really, really like 4.0 unweighted.

Ah, I understand now. Thanks for the reply! I wish you the best of luck getting in yourself.
