For example, I know w/ Duke they accept roughly 10% of deferrals. Anyone know what type of chance those deferred EA from Mich have?

@ kobudnik, I’m wondering the exact same thing (both of us are in the same position). I have a hunch that the chances are higher than 10% at UMich but I do want a better idea. I’m thinking about calling and asking but U-M admissions is useless and gives vague answers (that’s the impression I got from CCers who called the admissions office about stuff)

I am so curious too! And on a similar note, considering I just got deferred a few hours ago , I was wondering if people have gotten rejected Early Action or if they just defer everyone? On other forms people have been saying that Michigan doesn’t reject Early Action applicants but that seems a little strange… anyone know?

Okay, they’re the only ones who really know the answers but:
19,000 Early Applications; aprox 5800 spots give or take, and 40% of acceptances early, 60% acceptances not early (RD/Deferred pool); last year approx 30k applicants overall but this year 5,000 MORE EA apps so assume it goes to 35k applications at a yield rate of aprox 43% – -
so about 3480 spots to fill, I’d say your chances of an acceptance offer is closer to 20% given the 43-50% yield rate. I’m in a rush; you guys do the math, but that’s my quick guess.
