I did registration today, and only got three of the classes I needed. Everything else I need is closed or waitlisted, so I joined four waitlists. My spots on the waitlists are 12/15, 5/7, 7/11, and 6/6. I only have ten hours currently, and I need thirteen+, so I'm hoping I can get into at least one of these courses. I placed out of all of the basics except for art and history through AP exams, so these waitlists are for art and history classes.

So, should I expect to get into at least one of these courses, because if not... D;

Well I have no experience with waitlists, but my orientation wing leader (a junior) said that he has gotten into every class that he has ever been waitlisted for.

I was waitlisted for 3 classes 2 weeks ago and got into every single one. There is a lot of lateral movement that goes on before the 2nd week of the semester, so the chances are decent.

It is important to note not only what number you are on the waitlist, but how many students the class typically holds. If you are 12/15 in a 300 seat course then of course you stand a very good chance of getting in, but if you are 12/15 in a 40 seat course, then the odds go way down.

If you are receiving financial aid, then you NEED to be registered for over 12 credit hours no matter how many waitlists you are on. If you don’t get into at least one of those waitlist courses by the payment date (August 10th) then you will not be considered a full-time student for financial aid purposes.
