of getting decent scholarships money and other aid besides loans. And if my EFC is non-existant how can I explain that to them?

With the credentials you've posted plus a financial need your chances are excellent. The down side of your application is the lateness of it...as many of these opportunities are first come, first served.

If you can articulate a unique situation you've had to overcome it would help you even more. I suspect the university holds a bit in reserve for special cases...maybe a personal visit to Admissions (with documentation of your credentials) would help clarify your options.

As to explanations...just present the facts and I suspect they can fill in the gaps. I imagine they've heard lots of variations of personal stories over the years.

I hope so, My EFC is 6,635 and my mom is having problems paying our car insurance, cable, and credit card bills right now. I was explaning to her the other day (one the the days she actually listens) that I hope I can show the school that we're not lying and to take proof of her recent pay checks as proof of her cut down hours because of her wrist injury. I was asking my grandmother yesterday who is visiting, Whats going to happen if my mom doesnt start working regular hours and she said that, If the post office doesnt put her to work normal hours again that shes going to sell our house and move in with her boyfriend till things get better. I think she was to get disability. She has alot of problems and I think its time for her to quit working.
