Okay so I have a really bad SAT score (1600) but I have a decent GPA (unweighted-3.95) and am in the full IB program. Am I hopeless with bad test scores? I am guessing the options of any school with an acceptance rate of 20% or lower are off-limits because of having low test scores...Is this correct? Should I only aim at getting into the average colleges?

Apply to schools that don’t require the SAT/ACT, or try the ACT. There are lots of good ones that are test optional, mostly liberal arts schools. A few examples are Bowdoin, Franklin and Marshall, Wake Forest, Middlebury.
