What are the Cons starting in Spring Term

Any pros and cons of starting in pitt in spring term.If you are waitlisted for fall term wity guranteed admissiom to spring, what are chances of waitlist getting converted to acceptance for fall based on past data.

@sulu Sorry to hear your daughter is waitlisted but its better than a denial. I have no experience with starting in Spring but I would say the biggest con is acclimation to campus and the social aspect. Everything is so geared up for freshmen starting in the fall and those starting in spring will miss that first semester of bonding, football games and general excitement. That being said the first semester is over in a flash, there will be others starting in spring and I would think Pitt would do a great job welcoming them. If Pitt is #1 and it is truly the school she wants to go to I would strongly consider doing it. You may want to join the Pitt Parents class of 2019+ facebook page to see if anyone has feedback on their student starting in the spring in the past. Best of luck!

I would ask Pitt what programming or orientation type activities they have for spring admits. If that is covered, then I think it’s something to consider. Maybe your daughter can take some transferable classes at community college in the fall, or work a great job and save $ then start at Pitt!
