<p>Definitely depends on the type of class you are taking. Humanities assignments are likely to be more longterm than science and math ones.</p>
<p>Yeah. For my bio class we just have to hand in labwork a little less often than once a week and it's suggested that we read the textbook before each lecture. For my chem class we have a problem set due each week, a lab each week, and it's suggested that we read the textbook before each lecture. It would be different for, say, a history or English or Arabic class.</p>

<p>and mostly you're pretty much on your own for finding out homework. They might give you a syllabus with the semester's assignments on it, or it might be on a website, or it might be emailed, or they might actually tell you in class. sometimes it's hard to consolidate everything and stay organized.</p>
