What are the interviews like?

I heard that Brandeis offers interviews in on and off-campus.
Did anybody undergo an interview?
Are the ones off campus similar?
Are the reps alumni?
Thanks

My D had an on campus interview--similar to those at several other schools. Brandeis is interested in why you think B. is a good fit for you, gives you scope to discuss your strengths and weaknesses and present yourself as an individual in terms of academic interests and commitment to issues in the wider community. The atmosphere was friendly, informal and encouraging.

Yup, my experience was similar off campus. My interviewer was really sweet and we really more discussed my experiences growing up in rural (and later suburban) Georgia and how that affected my decision to go to Brandeis. However, the interviewer became an official Brandeis rep relatively soon before the interview, so it was arranged pretty last minute. Because of that, the interviewer brought her 3 year old daughter- who was adorable but distracting. That NORMALLY doesn't happen though ;)

I found it totally low stress. No hard questions or anything, just a friendly discussion.

I appreciate the time you took to reply.
Is there a dress code ( more specifically suit and tie) for the off campus interviews?
Also, is there a standard length of time allowed for the interview?
Any other recommendations, "no-no's"?
Thanks again

No specific dress code--suit and tie absolutely not necessary. You should look neat, clean and respectable--maybe as you would for your high school yearbook photo. Wouldn't wear torn jeans and dirty sport shoes but you should feel comfortable. Figure on 30 to 40 min. for the interview. Always a good idea to have a couple of questions specific to Brandeis up your sleeve--questions not readily answerable by surfing their website. Relax...the interview could help you get in if you were somehow borderline, but if your other stats and materials are strong, the interview would not be a make or break item.

Strongly recommend against wearing a suit and tie. I wore a nice blouse and skirt, my interviewer was wearing a cardigan and nice jeans. :P For a guy, khakis and a button down shirt (or sweater if it's cold) would suffice.

thanks once again!
It's been very helpful
