I noticed that most of the econ majors that got accepted have at least a 3.7 GPA. On the other hand, a lot of CS, language, or Asian Studies majors can get by with a 3.3 or even lower. So what would you say are the top 5 most difficult majors to get accepted are?

Biology. bus/econ, communication, econ,psychology.

engineering is pretty competitive also

add polisci to that list

1-Engg
2-Bus/Econ
3-Comm
4-Psych/Soc
5-Poli Sci

thats the top 5

Competitive in term of admision:
- Engineering and CS (you can look for UCLA admits profile and the average admit GPA seem to fluctuate around 3.7 which is very high relatively to ther admits in other majors and also engineering courses work is pretty intense so 3.7 GPA in hard-core math/science is tough to get).

Business Econ.

Political science.

Psychology

Biology.

Competitive in term of difficulty of the courses:
- Engineering and CS.
- Math, statistics and some other science.
- Biology.
- Political Science.
- Psychology.

Notes that I only use 5 popular majors in the sample for ranking.

Business and Engineering.

what about sociology?

this depends on the school. Some shcools have less requests for certain majors and thus admit more people.

Pure physics would definitely rank higher than at least math (probably engineering too); I also don’t really believe poly sci belongs on a ranking of top 5 most difficult majors.

???

Remember this is OPINIONS based ranking…

you think political science is easy; other might think it is hard. Also, actually most of us can’t really rank which major is harder unless we have studied the majors ourselves. Even so, even if we study all majors and can rank the difficulty of them; it is still OPINIONs based ranking.

I use 5 major field as “ranking alternative” which means I didn’t use any other major in my ranking because I’m not that familiar with them. For example, i didn’t consider law…

What about film studies? Particularly in UCSC and UCD.

Is it difficult to get into UCLA with English as a major? The UCLA admissions counselor at my school said the average gpa was 3.4. I dunno; that sounds a little low though, doesn’t it?

english is one of the easier majors to transfer into…

In my OPINION, when I think hard majors I specifically think about Haas at UCB, EECS at UCB, Communication at UCLA, and Business Econ at UCLA.
