I was wondering, what extra curriculars are considered "impressive" for the admissions commitee at Ivy Leagues? Im an incoming freshman.. and Im thinking about joining debate club. I dont know what else to join-
I want to make sure the courses I join are actually worth it, and will make a difference in the college admissions process.

Any ideas?

Do sports really matter? I think i'll get too tired and wont be able to keep up with school work..
Pre-Med Society?
Student Government?
Arista? (tutoring students)

I agree with atomic for once. And If I were you, I would definately do the tutoring thing. I have an interest in education and that will help you especially if you want to become something like that.

Don't choose a club only for its prestige. How are you wanting to do pre-med and tutoring? Unless you really do love both, you sound kind of... fake to me. Both of those are good. Just want to make sure you don't waste your time trying to whore yourself out to ad com. If there is something you like that's not as recognized as the others, then become a leadership figure. Or start your own club (raise the money and all) because that is impressive as well.

Sports show that you can manage your time...if your not really athletic go for track. You don't have to be really fast and can run short events if you want.

just do stuff you are actually intrested in. join clubs/activities that you will look forward to going to; if you are passionate about your ecs it will show in your apps. sports are an awesome way to meet people, it will keep you in shape, it also shows you can manage your time (like gio14lk7 said) plus participating in athletics can lead to athlete-scholar loans/scholarships & being a captin of a team never looked bad either. good luck & enjoy your time in HS dont spend too much of it stressing over college!

I like quiz bowl (the jeopardy like club, idk what you guys call it). It shows you're not one of those kids who knows stuff for a week and then forgets it right after the test.
