Yes, I think the ironically abbreviated BJU takes the cake in the bigotry department, due to its interracial dating issues. The academics there are also rather suspect, since their biology department teaches creationism (somehow, I don't see accreditation being in their near future).

"yea i remember hearing about the princeton case. was it the one that was targeted towards asians?"

Princeton Case: a Princeton grad-- who apparently is actually also married to an Asian woman-- targeted dozens of Asian American students. He seemed to be obsessed with them. His obsession included following Asian women around, watching them, urinating in their drinks and cutting off locks of their hair.

"i also believe USC (university of southern california.. not south carolina here) frat houses were charged with being "racist"

USC Case: A recent incident detailed a frat party. The theme was a "Border Party," a sort of "Mexican/fiesta" theme. I guess the lengths some partygoers took the ethnic/cultural theme would have been considered offensive or insensitive; the specific complaint was when a Latino student walked by the frat house, and a white female (a party goer) called him a "sp*c" and apparently said that he as a Latino would himself never get invited to one of their parties. She was quite drunk, I believe. But there was some controversy.

Also: I mentioned Tufts, U of Chicago and Duke.

Duke Case: A few years ago, when China refused to give America back a spy plane, there was a biased incident on the Duke campus. An Asian-American girl was walking past some frat houses and a frat boy or several frat boys began screaming and deriding her, telling her to "Give us back our spy plane."

U of Chicago: Various incidents. One included an Asian student getting back a paper; an unknown someone had scrawled "Learn to write English" on it. An Asian-American medical student at U of Chicago reported that some hospital workers seemed to take delight in always condescendingly asking her if she spoke English or not, though she answered in the affirmative continously.

Tufts: More frat boys! An Arab student was walking past some frat boys when they started calling him a terrorist and other inappropriate stereotypes. He didn't want to take it so he punched one of them and there was a scuffle and more name-calling etc.

Also, Middlebury had a strange racial scandal that included a white student accusing a black one of trying to sexually abuse him while he slept. The white student had woken up to inexplicably see a dark person with "nappy hair" in his room, close to him. The white student then reported the incident and accused one of the black kids on campus of being the person in his room. The black student was known as pretty straight-laced, smart kid, so it surprised some people.

well, I'm not going to comment on midwest/southern schools since I figure they're just about all racist.

in my backyard of LA, pepperdine and USC are the most racist.

pepperdine is incredibly homophobic...g ays are not welcome. blacks do not feel comfortable. a jewish friend of mine said she was treated badly there.

USC, well, it's big enough so anyone can go there and flourish. but, if you want to join the greek system, better be white, pretty, dumb, and rich.

It kinda makes me mad seeing everyone accuse the Greek system of being racist. At USC (The real one - South Carolina) which is where I will be, most of the fraternities are either all black or all white. There is no "discrimination" per se but that is just how it is. It works both ways. The two biggest black fraternities on campus got in a brawl in the student union last year - there have been no incidences of white frats on campus causing any serious trouble. Those kids tore up the student union.

Auburn University has a pretty nasty reputation when it comes to racism.

UofMiami has mexican/hispanics who are racist and whites who are racists as long as you arne't mexican/hispanic.

TexasA&M is supposed to be racist too.

Any of the super techie places

Why would any African American, Jew, Muslim, or devout catholic want to go to Bob Jones University?

A lot of deep southern schools have had many of issues with racism.

But, I think that Bob Jones University is the most racist. They didn't even allow blacks to enroll until a 1971 court decision. Now, they say that blacks and whites can't date.

BJU most definitely.

University of Alabama has actually never had a black person in their greek scene ever, except for one half black girl who they thought was white. Like a previus poster said, when asked the alumni said that they just couldn't "let a n****r in".
Classy.

"Why would any African American, Jew, Muslim, or devout catholic want to go to Bob Jones University?"

--That's what I want to know. Bob Jones University needs serious help. However, I bet that Alan Keyes would love Bob Jones University.

the "princeton grad" was a graduate student in mathematics, by way of LSU undergrad. it's arguable whether his perverse fetish for asians constitutes "racism," which is usually understood to involve negative, not positive, feelings toward another race. anyway, the guy's since been barred from campus, and should not, in any event, be said to represent the attitudes of the princeton student body as a whole.

I've always heard BU was pretty racist and that Boston itself has many racist people.

Am I the only one who finds it positively hilarious that Bob Jones University is abbreviated "BJU"? It's so ironic!

"I've always heard BU was pretty racist and that Boston itself has many racist people."

dcfca: I've heard that too. Not specifically about BU, but I've always heard bad things about Boston in term of its racial outlook. I'm not saying that all Bostonians are racist or something, it's just very common to hear how Boston is known for its racism.

Many of the students at San Francisco State University are hostile towards Jews, and to a lesser extent, caucasians.

What is the race of the racist students?

Its not suprising that President Bush and Alan Keyes give speeches there, Reagan supported there tax exempt status and that they awarded George Walllace, Jesse Helms, and Strom Thurmond honorary degrees.

What is the race of the racist students?

Chicanos (mostly those in the MECHa organization) and Arab/Palestinian (mostly of the Palestinian student organization). The source of their hatred is towards conservative/Republican/pro-Israel students, but since most of these students tend to white, they sometimes incorporate race into their rhetoric.
