What are the odds of a black guy getting into a White USC fraternity

I'm a black student international student from England who is going to study business management next year.

You’ll be fine. It’s more self-selection than anything – not everyone would feel comfortable hanging out with a predominantly white and wealthy group. They won’t have any issues hanging out with you; just don’t expect them to understand what it means to be marginalized. (You get gems like “Well, racism was never an issue for me growing up” from that demographic. It’s quaint, really.)

And a black dude with an English accent? I’m gonna stop now before I say anything too crude about the attention you’ll get from girls in LA.

Well I’ve always chilled with more White friends because it causes less drama in the male sense and which frats should I avoid and which should ones should I definitely check out :)

I’ll take that as a sign that they are all pretty diverse

I have to friends at USC right now who just got into ATO apparently they were the first black guys. And the bigger question id if you can handle pledging with them.

Honestly, you’ll kind of always be the token Black guy lol. You can definitely get in but that’s basically the main reason - because you’re Black. I’ve had friends who join the frats in order to gain business connections & they’re constantly pointed out as the “Black friend” and as evidence that their frat is just soo “diverse” haha. If you’re cool with all that then go for it.

Everyone has said very good things. The Greek system at SC is not diverse AT ALL, but that doesn’t mean they don’t or won’t take Black people. Its more a reflection of how comfortable many Black people are spending their time with wealthy, white people. And like USCgirl1 said, you will ALWAYS be the token.

Well now, how about an Asian guy in a greek frat?

I would probably classify myself as a richer high middle class Asian American.

Rush Theta Xi. We have a few business majors and you will fit right in.

The current president of Delta Gamma is black. She is an absolutely lovely and accomplished girl and no one would ever describe her as “token” anything. She is a vital and amazing member of that sorority.
If you want to rush, you will be considered as a whole person and only described as “token” by those who should really know better at this point.

I didn’t know USC had “White” frats; when did that happen?

What are the odds of a black guy getting into a White USC fraternity?

About the same as a black guy graduating from college…

VERY HIGH!

Confused?

That’s because you’re racist!

Agreed. The question presumes that USC’s fraternities have been historically and intentionally segregated, which presumption is incorrect, unsupported by fact, and reflects European biases, prejudices, and a fundamental lack of understanding of American Exceptionalism and the history of the American West. Perhaps the original poster is not a good fit for USC and its fraternities.
