apply to schools you want to go to. im in college right now and realized how stupid i was caring about college this much.

these threads will probably do you more harm than good because

you should try your best to do what you can in high school anyway

you should not be discouraged to apply for "Reach" schools

you should not treat every lower tier school like you are just going to get in based off your scores lone

you are just teasing yourself by vicariously thinking about college nstead of doing homework/facebook/having fun/whatever high school kids do

opinions from somebody on the internet should always be taking with a grain of salt (especially mine)

lastly, remember that admissions is pretty much a crapshoot.

@theyoungboi:

Admissions is not “pretty much a crapshoot” for most of the 3,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. If you have the scores and the grades (and you don’t peeve the officers in some bizarre way), most likely you’ll be admitted to handfuls of schools. It’s only when you’re applying to the top 50 or so colleges that other factors, such as extracurricular activities, personality, and recommendations, actually matter.

But I’m posting this on CC . . .

Other than that, I agree with you on your other points. However, there’s no need to respond to any of the chance threads, either. Just leave them be and laugh at those who are desperately posting every day. xD

i would still consider it a crapshoot any way you put it. if youre applying to harvard you know the competition you are going against. no matter what you do there is no standard for getting in to that type of school except being extraordinary which is extremely subjective.
