What are the Pros and Cons of being a transfer student?

I am a transfer student and I was thinking if there are any overall pros and cons of being a transfer student. I think one of the pros is that since you already transferred in a significant amount of credits, especially if you transferred after two years, you fulfilled or nearly fulfilled all the core class requirements, so you can just focus on your "major" classes for the next two years. There are definitely cons too if you think of it. You are pretty much no different than a freshman from a social standpoint since the atmosphere at an actual 4-year university is far different from an atmosphere at a community college, where it felt like high school all over again for most students. So although you may be looked as a junior, you would feel like all the freshmen. These are the only two I can think of, but I may be wrong. What do you guys think?

You’re right, it’s good to have all those filler courses out of the way. The downside is you may not be used to the workload at Rutgers, which is probably a little heavier than at a community college, so keep up with homework and classes from the beginning. Remember that there are a lot of resources if you are having trouble, such as tutoring groups and office hours. Go to your professor if you are having trouble in class; do not wait.

Socially, you may feel like an outsider at first, but you will quickly become acclimated. There are tons of people around and lots of activities to become involved with so try to find something that gets you involved on campus.

Everyone is nervous at first but you will find your way around campus and the bus system quickly.
