What are the Unit Requirements for CS/BA?

I looked at the outline for the CS/BA major and at the bottom it says "unit requirements for program: 116." But the degree course requirements doesn't mention anything about taking 6 GE's, Foreign Language Requirement, or Upper Div English Requirement. So Am i suppose to just add 24 - 28 units on top of the 116? Or is this major except from these requirements?

If you look at the course requirements for CS (games), it clearly says that you need to take the GE's and the upper division class. So it's kind of weird that CS/BA does not mention this.

You are most definitely not exempt, add Categories 1-2, 4-6 (3 is satisfied through basic science requirement), WRIT 140, WRIT 340, and Diversity (can be taken with a category to reduce unit requirement) so I count 28 extra units at the minimum.

Oh. I missed a small sentence in the description. It says 135 units required.

But I have finished Most of the math requirements at my CC and one class that satisfies categorie 3. I also made sure these classes were in the articulation agreement.
So I can probably shave off 16 units from 135 which would leave me with 119 units!

is this even possible to complete in 3 years? (I’m a sophomore transfer by the way)

5 semesters of 20 + 1 semester of 19 would equal 119…so it is possible but would be tough

Extending your stay another semester would greatly lighten the load and ultimately you should just see how it plays out after you start.

I might suggest staying an extra semester or two, just to make sure you can easily graduate without any headaches.

Oh and this damn site won’t let me send you a message for some damn reason, so I’m working on replying to you in some manner. I’m not ignoring you.

Ya it just sucks that i will most likely have to stay 3.5 semesters and worst case senario 4 semesters. My FA is running out!!! I used 2 years of FA at my community college. An FA rep from usc told me that I am eligible for 9 semesters of FA and I have already used 4!! If i would have known this i would have never used up my FA at my CC. So that means that I’m probably gonna have to pay a full year of tuition out of my own pocket… :(

hopefully going to usc pays off.

You have used 2 years of financial aid at your community college but only have 16 units? Hopefully you mean that you have additional units that do not apply to your major but which will transfer as elective credit. If you really are only transferring 16 units after 2 years of financial aid, I advise you to meet with a financial aid advisor to be sure you can meet SAP (if you don’t know what SAP is, please follow the link I provided on your financial aid forum post). If you took less than a full schedule (<12 units) while receiving financial aid, some of those semesters may only count as .5 SAP semesters.

More notes:

-Please see your thread on the financial aid forum - I posted some information about how you MIGHT qualify for one additional semester of financial aid.

-A drawback to the plan to take more than 18 units per semester is that flat rate tuition covers up to 18 units. Additional units are $1,536 each, so taking 20 units a semester would cost an additional $3,072/semester ($6,144/year) which would not be covered in financial aid calculations - those costs would be 100% out-of-pocket. There is an Academic Achievement Award available for continuing students to cover the extra 2 units per semester [USC Academic Achievement Award | Undergraduate Education](http://undergrad.usc.edu/renaissance/achievement_award.html) , so if you feel you may qualify in the future it would be worth it to keep your grades (way) up.

-If you are only transferring 16 units, I would suggest obtaining pre-approval (available on OASIS) to take additional community college units for GEs during the summer. Do NOT request financial aid for those units… At $46/per unit at California Community Colleges, taking 9 units over the summer would cost $414. It would be money well-spent. You may transfer up to 64 units total, but once you matriculate to USC ALL must be pre-approved.

-From the start at USC, visit your USC academic counselor regularly. You will need full schedules where ALL of your courses count.
