What are the worst things about Harvard?

Someone appears to have missed the exquisitely subtle humor of paralleling "NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN" with "EATEN BY GIANT COCKROACHES".

On the other hand, I guess the cockroaches really are no laughing matter. Not after what they did to Frank.

HEY!!! I'm gonna be in Dunster next year, and I WHOLEHEARTLY ASSERT: It's the happiest place on Earth!!! I haven't seen a cockroach yet, and I've visited! :p

good luck sleeping late next year:

I spoke with two deans at Harvard about many of the issues mentioned above. They state that they have been working hard to improve the undergraduate experience over the last three years. Among the changes: freshman seminars have increased from 30 to 125; graduation requirements have become more flexible; study abroad is no longer discouraged and is made more available; the undergraduate deans office is actively working on increasing socialization opportunities for undergrads: dodge ball on Fri nocs, big screen tv in Locker commons, furniture in commons rooms. They sound like they have been addressing issues where Harvard was weak over the last three years and are continuing to evaluate. It sounds to me like the experience for incoming freshman will be very different from that of graduating seniors.
As for the calendar, a committee of the entire university is in the processing of evaluating the issue and is to make recommendations in 2006. Altho to me the present calendar is not desireable, the dean said that the undergraduates appear mixed on the issue. We'll see. I called because of the concerns about Harvard students being happy and what the university was doing to respond, and I was pleased with the response. It looks like the admin is actively seeking to upgrade the social envvironment and with some success. Hopefully this will continue and the freshman students can be actively a part of this change.
