What are they looking for with "additional information?"

Like circumstances or are they looking for a portfolio or just any random writing sample??? What do they want??

I honestly had no idea either. I’m applying to COM (which doesn’t require a portfolio) while art is kinda my thing. So I sent in a link to my art blog with all of my work and process photos…I don’t know, just something extra since I’m not applying to CFA.

I applied for Electrical Engineering, and I sent them my research proposal for a electro mechanic project that I did in an internship. It’s very technical and goes into details with Current Sensing and Transmitter
i guess only submit one if the writing/profolio is related to the major you applied to.

Thanks guys! I am applying for journalism and I don’t know if I should put like a single story or the portfolio of the stuff i’m working on?? :frowning:

An additional information section is generally for any detail you can’t fit in on the regular app because of lack of space (say you have more awards in an activity than you can list), or something there is no place to enter (an example would be a MOOC). Or if there is info you want them to have that doesn’t fit into the info (say you were ill and in the hospital for 3 months of sophomore year…). Although that last one you could also as your GC to communicate in their letter instead. It isn’t for extra essays, etc. Don’t feel obligated to fill it in, they get enough paper already from what they actually ask for. If you have an art portfolio to submit, they usually have a different process for that.

the admissions officer for Rice said extra supplements like art, writing, etc they will end up not reading. I’m pretty sure BU is the same. i agree with intparent. i left that section empty for BU.
