I'm currently working on a local scholarship which has a required essay. The essay wants a personal statement. This is like the 3rd scholarship/college app. which has asked for this type of essay. What kind of things should I write about?

It depends on what kind of scholarship, but the more general ones that I'm applying to ask for my college and career goals and why. Some of these scholarships also asked for hardships overcome, my value on education, and description and/or reflection on a community service activity. These are really general, though. If the scholarship doesn't mention any specifics, I suggest you write about a few of these areas.

My high school counselor told me that, if they don't specify, then they want an essay detailing who you are, what you did, and what you plan to do.
