My parents really want me to go to Mary Wash. And I don't know if I can get in. I have a 3.4 GPA; I want to major in Chem. And I'm wondering how much the essay is factored in?_? And will be sending my app in before the priority deadline, so will that help me at all or should I wait for regular admissions deadline? Before I get excited about it I want to know if I can get in. And if not, what other schools could I get into that are under 10,000 a year for tuition? HELP!

Are you a Virginia resident? What are your SAT scores? How challenging is the curriculum that you have taken in highschool? Class rank? If in-state.................what part of the state? The essay will matter if you are borderline.............and they ask for an honor's essay too. Are you a female?

Mary Wash looks for an all-around good profile. This means a good GPA, a strong course load, good SAT's, good essays and good extra-curriculars. I got in with a 3.3 GPA; however, I had high SAT scores, good essays and really good extra-curriculars. In terms of majors, it doesn't matter what you're interested in, because everyone comes in as undecided. You seem to have ok GPA, so as long as you have good SAT's, EC's and essays, I'd say you have chance. Then again, I applied 2 years ago, so I'm not sure if it has gotten harder to get in since back then. If you apply before the priority deadline, that's a plus because it shows the admissions committee that you're really interessted in attending the school.
