String cheese is quick to eat and a good source of protein! Water will make you last thirsty than soda. Supply a protein-filled breakfast as well.

S got the email with his ticket.

I bought the ham and cheese and potato and tortillas today for the breakfast burrito.

Do moms love their kids or what:)?

String cheese is a great idea, since S to his chagrin is still wearing braces so nuts are out...

"Extra batteries or a back up calculator might not hurt, although TI-83s warn you about low batteries about 5 years before they actually fail. I also brought a pencil sharpener."

Don't worry about these. These are more stressful than helpful. Just change new battery before the test day and bring more than 2 pencils. Don't overuse the calculator.

Good luck to all who are taking the SAT tomorrow! :)

Thanks twinmom and all who saved this mama bu**.

S showed up tonight, "Mom, uhh, I need some pencils that aren't mechanical. "

"I got 'em".

"Did you get a pencil sharpener?"

"Yes I did."

Ha ha! Who knew! Cc helps regular mom become, if not SuperMom, then at least not CluelessMom. Or as S once called me, when he was 8 or 9 and I had just started back at fulltime work in the previous year, "Forgetterhead."

Good luck and good qi to all.

Alumother - you're not clueless. Just more mellow the second time around. I would be too, if there was a second time, which there's not.

By the way, whenever I see your postings, I think about the one you wrote which was along the lines of "I'm staring out the window ..." and how nothing was working out for your daughter in the world of college admissions. And then I think about how it all did work out (to say the least.)

As an aside, I thought I had everything ready for my kids on their first SAT day, yet I never though of a pencil sharpener. Then again, I made them each take about six pencils. They were both mortified.

S and I just had a discussion about the SAT, and of course, the subject of mechanical pencils and pens popped up- anyway, I re-checked the CB site and it now clearly states:

A pencil is required for the essay. An essay written in ink will receive a score of zero.

twinmom - when this bumped up I saw your post which I had not seen before. I too think about that post of mine. I reread it sometimes to remind myself that sometimes all the drama I bring to the table is unecessary. As Sybbie gently told me at the time.

Embarassment by way of abundant pencilage. Way to go. V. high level:)

I didn't know breakfast burritos existed (except for those sausage things at McDonald's).

Visiting CC is so educational.

don't forget to bring your son.

ti-89 so u dont haveto worry about the math section

Don't overuse the calculator.<<

Amen! The calculator will slows you down. Use only when absolutely necessary.

Are you sure that the TI-89 calculator is on the approved list? I'm guessing that it is not.

From what I have read, the TI-89 is allowed on the SAT but not for the ACT. The CB allows graphing calculators, scientific calculators. Although allowed, four-function calculators are not recommended. You can't use anything with a key board, or that beeps, clicks, clacks, or talks - even if politely.

Interesting, asteriskea--the TI-89 can actually solve problems for you with its "solve" function.

But then by the time you punch the numbers into the calculator, you probably could have solved it using pencil and paper!

I didn't bring a single thing except the ID, Ticket, Calculator, pencils, eraser, and WATCH (<<important) and I did better than I ever dreamed of doing..

The time I took it before that I brought food and tried to go to bed on time and eat right before and so on and so forth and did horribly and canceled my scores..

Seriously, they shouldn't think about it.. just come in and take it..

They're getting too stressed out about the SAT if what to eat and so on are such big deals, and it'll hurt them..

I used mechanical pencils for all my standardized tests. It doesn't seem to have hurt me too much. :D

Breakfast burrito recipe.

1 large flour tortilla
2 eggs
1 potato baked or boiled
1-2 2oz Monterey Jack cheese grated or sliced
Sliced ham chopped into medium pieces
Salsa

Scramble the eggs pretty dry, not too many little clumps. Warm a tortilla in microwave for 20 seconds or on one side after the other in a heavy frying pan heated to medium for a few minutes. Then mix up eggs and potato and spoon them in a line down the middle of the tortilla - you can do it while the tortilla is still in the pan if that's how you heated it. Then sprinkle the cheese over the potatoes and eggs, and add ham. Roll up the burriton - carefully because you will be burning your fingers:) - and heat until cheese melts, turning heat down to low-medium.

Take burrito out, open, add salsa.

Roll up again.

Hand to hungry teenager who is running out the door.....wrapped in a paper towel if they are spillers.

Might be a California thing.

Summary of important points from this thread:

Don't forget to bring your son to the SAT.

Breakfast burritos have potato in them. Who knew?

"Forgetterhead." Note to self: this would be an excellent screen name. But for whom? :p
