What are you doing on 11/15 @ 5pm?

definitely a stupid question, but how/where exactly (url) can you view decisions on the 15th? I know the eli login is required, but is it the application status website or?

Thanks.

@ seattleyj: holistic? do you mean that they place more weight on transcript/scores than Stanford/Harvard? that’d be good (for me)

I suppose that Yale would take more traditional approach (I have no idea about Harvard). My college counselor told me that Stanford looks for “entrepreneurship” --individual initiative, uniqueness, and in success–more so than objective numbers.

Then again, Yale also does want people who excel in their respective fields.

^ Traditional? Like test scores?

It makes sense, though. Last year, a kid from my school was deferred/rejected from Yale, but got in Stanford and Harvard with a 2220. Which is not bad, really, but it’s lower than the scores of a few people who applied from my school. (One of the others got into Yale.)

I think that’s pretty accurate, considering 1) stanford isn’t ivy league, they can do what they want 2) they’re in california, they need entrepreneurs and technology wizzes ;)

The competition for Stanford is stiff if you live in CA. In my class of 60 I think at least 20 are applying. From what I’ve seen the people who get accepted are not the typical well- rounded applicant but the person who either has a ton of community service like ( 2000+ hours) or like others said are super unique! So many people from my school get accepted to Harvard but rejected at Stanford.

@ collegestress16: I agree. Not really sure about the community service thing… but definitely being unique trumps all other well-rounded apps.

4 kids in my class applied EA and got rejected… and at least 20 students (out of 170) will be applying regular, so I guess we’ll see how that goes…

I have swim practice until 5:30, which means I won’t get home until 6pm. Then I must eat a very quick dinner and RUN to my local university and take an organic chemistry final exam at 7pm (which, luckily, I can fail and still get an A), and that runs till 9pm. Maybe I can check when I get home then, but I have a Multivariable Calc final wednesday, and I must find some time to play piano. Also, I’m not known to be up past 11:15pm. Overall, Tuesday will be a horrible day, so I hope for some good news to lighten it up!

I will be at some computer in the school. Whether I will be with my favorite teacher or in the newspaper office alone remains to be seen.

I’m thinking that I shouldn’t check during rehearsal…

Cry like a little girl? Pessimistic!

^ No way. But it’s a moment, I think, that I would like to have to myself.

These threads keep me from going into full-fledged fetal-position meltdown. Thanks everyone for being you :-)

@juliehopeful: Glad to be of help! ;)
