We talk about college so much on here. What are you actually excited about? What are you excited to leave behind?

Liberation, independence, ability to flirt with girls without worrying about parental intervention, being with students of my academic ability.

Taking interesting classes, getting to live somewhere new, getting away from my mother and her alcoholism, being able to get a job for more than five hours a week. Unless I go to Case, in which case everything will stay pretty much exactly the same.
I take all my classes at a local university, so it won’t be as much of a change as it would have been otherwise. I mean, I’ll be living in a dorm next year, but I’m not especially excited about that.

Freedom. The rest are goodies that come with freedom.

not being in high school

I’m excited for the learning experience. I feel like I know what I want to do with my life, and so I cannot wait to get started doing it.

not having my mom be my primary caregiver, clubs, learning, interesting discussions

Having classes with students that actually care about academics will be a nice change.
And then the obvious crap like not having to be at school for 40hrs/wk even when there is nothing useful, more flexibility, less busy work, etc.
I’ll be able to take more classes in subjects I like.
Meeting new people and joining new activities.

Apandia you such a sly ladies man

Being treated like an adult, mostly. Taking real classes at a faster pace with no busy work, a sink or swim attitude rather than “we will stop the darned boat to make sure every one that shouldnt be taking an ap class is following along the curriculum”. Tired of projects with no learning aspect, they just serve as stuff to keep us busy. Tired of my parents being so ”present” in my everyday life, want some freedom to be able to go out to the movies, go to a friends place, invite a girl over without being judged.

Freedom and independence.

Leaving the suburbs. Not going to my small religious high school and living with blindly conservative family. I love my friends and family, but when you’re the only one who’s not a Christian and everyone looks at you like you’re satan all the time for not praying before every class or crying on your knees at church

it gets old.

awwww heeeeeeel yeah @achilles

Doing chemistry research in an actual lab! LASERS, MAGNETS, TNT YEEAAHH

Getting to be a part of an actual community. I live in LA, the city’s hugeness doesn’t lend itself to a sense of belonging.

Meeting new people! Cooking lots of food! Doing interesting homework! Sleeping until 9! Taking real dance classes! Getting a girlfriend! Chatting with brilliant professors!

I just feel like I’ll always have something engaging/fun/interesting/enjoyable/memorable to do in college, and for that I’m really excited :)

Entering the next big stage of my life. Seems exhilarating in its very essence.
Hopefully having my first relationship with a guy. Also exhilarating, lol.

Meeting and creating relationships with new people!! Taking interesting classes!! new culture new food new everything! I am not afraid of change I can’t wait for college!!

-living somewhere new
-meeting new people/starting over new
-freedom
-taking classes that interest me
-not as much busy work
-not having to wake up painfully early
-study abroad

Independence and something new. I loved high school, but I want to go some place where I won’t see anyone from my high school, and my parents can’t just drop in. I want to completely shock myself and prepare to adapt for what comes after school.

FREEDOM and living away from my parents
