Hey, what are you guys doing this summer? I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing ... lately I've been doing nothing. Also are you a rising sophomore, junior or senior?

Just finished my first year of college and i’m working this summer. Have 1 job now and i’m looking for a 2nd, since i’m not taking any summer courses.

rising college freshman. i’m trying so hard to get a job so i can buy everything i need to prepare myself for school, lol… but that hasn’t been going well, so i’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach with my friends.

I’m a rising senior, and I’m taking 3 classes, working 15 hours a week as a tutor, and volunteering in a lab.

Studying abroad in Moscow - rising second-year

I just completed my freshmen year. I will be taking a summer class for break but have yet to find a summer job. If I can not find a summer job I am not sure if I will be able to come home during next summer because as of now my main income is now my credit card.

Rising sophomore. Haven’t been able to find a job yet. Well, except for babysitting. I have a pretty sweet babysitting gig lined up for August that pays $20/hr. Too bad it’s only for two weeks.

Sooo, I’m most likely gonna be catching up on some reading and writing, going on vacay to NC and California, and just hanging out.

Rising senior. Doing research at Fermilab for 10 weeks, and then headed back to Scotland, hopefully to get a job before term starts again, or else just relaxing with friends.

Rising soft more. My 6 hours straight two days a week physics tomorrow lass starts next week. Then online philosophy a little later.

Been looking all over for a job, even got a few interviews. But it seems being unavailable all Monday and Wednesday morning and afternoon really hurts… I’d be happy working the graveyard shift at somewhere like Sears and restock the place.

I also wish I could get a tutoring job. Cushiest job ever AND it overpays. But none of the local places hire college kids and I don’t know anyone that needs one. Come on though, who wouldn’t want their kid learning math from a Michigan engineer.

Staying occupied with sports. 2-6 hours of pick up soccer, mens indoor soccer, outdoor coed soccer (40 minute halves! Badass right?), flag football games and practice, rec center stuff… etc. At least i’ll be in good shape for Intramurals

Lol soft more.

I’m either that tired or my phone is acting against me

That’s a lot of soccer. I know where the pickup runs are in my area, but I haven’t found anything that’s like intramurals other a summer league that costs $750 a team. 40 min. halves sounds intense haha. IM at my school was just 20 each half, men’s and coed.

Just finished my freshman year and doing…mostly nothing. I moved to a new state and I’m learning my way around, getting a new drivers license and cooking up a storm.
Could be worse. At least it’s relaxing, if boring.

rising junior - mainly working at my job 5-6 days a week, then chilling and hanging out with friends some babysitting and house/petsitting on the side

Yeah, gotta love soccer. Pick gets pretty intense. A lot of guys in their 20s, some used to or are playing in college. And then the god damn foreigners… haha. Not in a “I hate foreigners” kinda way but in a “they play like dirty bastards” kinda way.

I normally make indoor teams, $300 a team, 8 games, $10 ref fees. Not bad. Split that up among people and its ok. I’ve been doing this for years. Managed a coed team from So. yr to the end of the summer after high school and a mens team my Sr yr till the end of the summer.

My coed teammates hit me up asking if I was making a team, I figured what the hell. Then I found the outdoor league run through my neighboring cities rec center. Love this league.

Outdoor 10 v 10, $180 for a team, 10 games, $20 ref fees. Plus we were able to get 18 team shirts (number and team name on back) for only $54 bucks. Now I don’t know if you’ve ever had to order custom shirts before but that is an amazing price.

Rising sophomore. Voluntering at a nursing home twice a week, 4 hours each day. Im also taking 2 summer classes and they start in 2 weeks.

Rising freshman. Don’t have anything special planned really. Just a month-long Pre-orientation program at my school starting this month. Then, I’ll just probably be with family after that. Maybe try to get a job. School shopping, of course.

Rising college senior. I’m taking a summer online class currently, which ends sometime around the beginning of July. I’ve been pounding the pavement trying to land summer work, but the economy where I live is pretty depressed and nobody is hiring seasonal other than places that I can’t get to because public transit doesn’t go there.

I really wish I had some sort of internship but again, with my transportation situation I don’t have a whole lot of options. I’m going to be contacting my former high school guidance department soon to set up some summer observation, though it’s informal and not for credit or anything. Aside from that I’m getting to the point where I’ll probably be looking into volunteer opportunities so that I can at least be doing something. I really wanted to be working this summer but so far that’s not happening. :(

Job as a tutor under Math dept for summer students taking Calculus I and II in the summer.
Studying stuff for research
Sitting in on Physics classes

rising sophomore…wish I’d gotten research instead of this

Rising sophomore…work in a lab 16.5 hrs/week, taking 6 credits of classes.

Taking 2 classes, and work a little with sports. W/free time, I practice my computer programming and spend the rest playing Minecraft or reading philosophical books. Or chess.
