WHAT????? Are you serious????

So I thought I had a pretty good shot in Dartmouth as I applied ED, but then looking at the people who are saying "I'll never get innn!!!" with 2340 SAT's and 15 5's and 4's on AP's, I'm beyond worried-it's shocked me out of complacency, haha :[[[[[[

Here are my stats:

GPA: 4.11 W (I know it seems low, but our school does funny stuff with GPAs)

Taken 12 AP's 4's and 5's on all but APUSH

SAT: 2250 (700M, 760CR, 790W)
SATII: 740 US 750 Chem

Ethnicity: Mixed Race, but Asian, basically (indian dad, singaporean mom)

Extracurriculars: I sent in an arts supplement, which is actually really good if I may say so myself. it has a DVD of me dancing, and this composition of indian classical music I did.

Marching, Concert, Wind Ensemble bands-Drum Major, Section leader, Regional Honor band, Tri-M VP

Dance-some internat'nl awards, camps and stuff, dance captain of company 9best one in the state), ect

Frogwatch-other than being ridiculously awesome, we work with the Natn'l widllife fed to record frog populations to monitor climate change-President, founder, worked with bronx Zoo, invited to genetics conference

Cultural Preservation Project-founder, president, worked with university professors on stuff, ect, ect

Solo FLute stuff-pit orchestra for school (one of the only students in the pit) some state and regional awards
South Asian Youth Association (aren't I cool...lol)recognized by mayor-Executive Officer, raised 5000 for charity to help indian underpriveledged women,

Tennis-Varsity for 3 years, team SWC ranking

Reccomendations: They're actually great, I really love my teachers/GC/friends, they gave me all the checks in the first column

Essay: I hope it's good :[[[[[[[, atleast I think its original!it's about Dr. Seuss and quantum mechanics

So, what do y'all think?

you're fine. don't worry, we all have the tendency to overreact. :]

You sound like a good candidate, but I have to wonder how many essays D gets featuring Dr. Seuss....

good shot, i have to say
and they probably get more Dr. Seuss essays than they could ever want, all from kids attempting to show intimate detail/ interest...

As your SAT scores are about average (last year CR +M average=1470), I'm thinking your class rank will be an impotant data point.

Yeah I think you have a good shot. I'm assuming you put music down as your first activity on your common app and you're really strong academically. Since you applied ED I guess it doesn't really matter what I say :) but I think you have a good shot.

Your chances are good. Why Dartmouth? (To see if you are a match based on your interest compared to your profile.) And to what other schools are you applying?

^Yeah I agree, it depends on your field of interest. What are you interested in?

Environmental science, yessss- so hopefully that's a plus. But the other girl applying from my school wants to be pre-med (even they don't have an official pre-med major) and her gpa rapes mine (even tho her test scores/course selection aren't as rigorous) so I really have no idea. At all.

Thanks, guys, I actually have my interview tomorrow and I'm prepping/am excited, so we'll see how it goes! hope all of you ED/RD'ers get in-wouldn't it be great if we all did??

you have nothing to worry about...you're on par if not above the majority of applicants. usually when people say "omg i'll never get in with my 2360 and 4.3 GPA", its their way of trying to show off their stats and be reaffirmed by the person who says "you have amazing stats!!!! you'll def get in!" --without seeming arrogant. good luck..and if it works out, great!!! if not? there are hundreds of other great schools who will gladly accept you

what's Frogwatch? sorry, I saw that somewhere else and I just thought I'd come back here and post the question since this is the only other place I saw it...

national wildlife federation, it's this weird program, and I made it into a club....hahaah

lol i have never heard of people writing a dr seuss essay.

Dr. Seuss went to D. I think it's safe to assume that D ad coms now roll their eyes as they wade into yet another Dr. Seuss essay, most of which are likely to have labored wit. If you are going to do it, you'd better be very, very good.

And here I was thinking I was unique, hahahaha.

however, my essay's more on thing one and Thing Two-hopefully, that's ok as it's not on Theodore Giesel/Dr. Seuss the person .

Maybe, maybe not.
