always wanted to go to wake but recieved no aid and tons to st marys which i wouldn’t mind, but is 200,000+ worth going to the preferable school??

oh and don’t just tell me to go to brown
i know its more impressive and has the better programs but it is cold at brown
i do NOT do cold and officially decided recently after visiting that the cold was something that just could not be overcome.

Justintime: Wow! Can’t do wrong with any of them. Since you’re interested in CS I’d say Carnegie Mellon; most prestigious of the group for what you want. Have a friend going and he loves it.
ihopeipass: I’d say Fordham or BU
Bethyy: RPI, Brown or GT.. tough choice.. which has the best “Feel”?

Deciding between: Boston College, Brandeis, RPI, UNH

I’m planning on majoring in computer science but also keeping up my studies in Japanese/French and graphic arts. I love Boston. Am not Jewish and haven’t seen Brandeis yet, only UNH so far! All schools offered decent scholarships but UNH only costs 22 compared to 55K for others (but offered 22% loans compared to 10% loans at others). WPI doesn’t offer much in languages so I ruled it out. Would like the more advanced technologically, nice campus, most prestigious (for grad school and jobs), help! going crazy trying to decide!

Bethyy: Sorry, I saw your message about ruling out Brown after. BUT: it’s only cold for a few months of the year there and will keep you studying inside (JK)..it’s near the ocean.. Providence isn’t such a great city but Brown’s campus is great. A few friends were rejected from there; they would love to be in your place!

justintime, brown has one of the best computer science departments for undergrads in the world plus all the additional benefits of being brown. check it out! it is particularly strong if you are interested in computer graphics/virtual reality or robotics.

Deciding between: UConn, Boston University, University of Miami
Leaning towards: UConn
Major: Chemistry

I loved both UConn and BU when I visited (I also love the city of Boston in general, much more than Storrs), and I’m visiting Miami for the first time this weekend. BU and Miami would each cost me around $11k per year, while UConn would only be about $7,500, and it would be free if I won the UConn-specific scholarship I’m currently in the running for. I got into the honors program at UConn, but not at Miami or BU. I’m not at all the partying type, but I am a big sports fan. Help?

Accepted : Baruch CUNY , Boston University
Rejected: NYU stern

Honestly, I really need help. I don’t know which to go to. I would liek to work in the city after finishing college. I’m not sure if I want to leave for boston because I’m afraid, somewhat. I also don’t really want to leave my family…

you know the problem with this thread? everyone i out for themselves.. maybe instead of just posting your choices.. help someone out while you’re at it… gez

jrejaud - I’ve visited Lehigh. I don’t think the surrounding area is sketchy at all. If I had to describe Lehigh as sketchy it would be because there is SO much partying. Greek life dominates there. It’s fairly rich-white-kid populated too. It will be a fun experience, to say the least. I also think that Lehigh has the best reputation out of your choices for engineering, so I would say go there.

Lori1122 - Are you looking to go to grad school? If so, I’d say think more about Mich, because money will be needed to pay for grad. If not, don’t be afraid to move away from home. Most of the people you will meet will be in the same boat as you and its something you can bond over. If you are leaning towards USC go for it!

salamander - Without that additional scholarship, the price different isn’t that great and you should focus more on things other than money to decide. With the scholarship, that comes down to 44,000 after four years, and that is a huge difference. As for Miami (my brother went there) he fell in love with the city and the spirit (go Canes!) There are plenty of parties on campus (and off) but Miami has a night life to die for and there are always non-party things to do. Not to mention it has solid science programs. The only thing I know about UConn is that it has a great pharmacy program. BU has the benefit of being in Boston (disney land for college students) and you would have the time of your life. If I were you, I’d either go to BU or UM.

dbentley_511 - One of my best friends had to decide between Wes and Vas last year. I recall her turning away from Vassar because it was TOO alternative for her. Yes, Wes is alternative too, but it was more subdued and hippie ish than outlandish. She loves Wes.

asdfsystema - I don’t know much about Baruch CUNY so I can’t help much. Again, don’t be afraid to leave your family. Every other freshman is going to be away from their families and they can bond with you. I think at either school, there is a great chance of getting a job in the city. I think BU would have you end up in Boston to work. Would you like to go to school in Boston and then go to work in Boston? Are you planning on going to grad schoool? You can go to undergrad at Baruch CUNY and then go to a grad school in a big city (maybe NYU) and work in that city.

If you really want help, post about it and you will get plenty. You can’t expect much of it in a thread like this, with everyone posting and replying.
