Collegenotime, all are about the same. I wouldn’t suggest Drexel (many people end up hating it there and leave after the first year.)

If you live in Connecticut, go to UConn. Massachusetts, UMass. Save yourself some money.

accepted: uchicago, cornell (a few more but these are the main 2)

deciding between the two. i like both the city and college town locations. want to do economics, but a very social party type. i like the small classes of uchicago, but the party scene at cornell. i also applied into cornell engineering but would transfer out ASAP

iamjam: asdfsystema - I don’t know much about Baruch CUNY so I can’t help much. Again, don’t be afraid to leave your family. Every other freshman is going to be away from their families and they can bond with you. I think at either school, there is a great chance of getting a job in the city. I think BU would have you end up in Boston to work. Would you like to go to school in Boston and then go to work in Boston? Are you planning on going to grad schoool? You can go to undergrad at Baruch CUNY and then go to a grad school in a big city (maybe NYU) and work in that city.

I plan to work in NY… do you think going to CUNY Baruch would be better for a job in the city? I plan to work in the wall street area and probably go for a MBA in nyu if possible. I’ll also be trying to apply to Stern the year after I attend either BU or Baruch.

Optisrule-
I would go to Northeastern h ands down haha. it’s in a good area, you have a very nice scholarship/merit. Seems like you’ll bedoing really well in that school. Are you trying for business?

Accepted: PSU Uni. Park, Bentley College, University of Maryland

Deciding between University of Maryland and Bentley. Both out of state, finance/marketing major. No money from each.

asdfsystema: If you want to ultimately go to Stern (which puts you at a good chance at landing on Wall Street) then just pick the school where you think you will thrive at the most. To get into a good business school, you not only need good grades at undergrad, you also need work experience for a year or two (or a few more) before applying. What you should do is find out where all the graduating students from the two school go. Do Baruch students seem to find work more often than BU students? More importantly, do Baruch students seem to find jobs in NYC more often than BU students? I have a feeling they do. In the end, either school will open the doors for you to end up at Stern in four years, you just have to do the work to walk through them. Figure out which environment is more comfortable (but still challenging academically) for you and go.

Majoring in Econ or statistics or both (not sure exactly). From CA.
Choose between:
USC (largest school, bad area of LA)
American ($20K/yr scholarship, but not known for math)
Carnegie Mellon (bad weather, bad social life?)

dbamon: decide if you like the big city life or the rural life.

Big city - choose BC
Rural - choose Colby (I think you will fit in best from CA)
Suburb - choose Tufts

Basically is coming down to Yale/Stanford with Dartmouth a KIND OF 3rd. Yale/Stanford I’m just really having a hard time deciding between since they’re both good, obviously.

Do you know what you want to study or what career you want to pursue greenyfire?

bethyy, I felt the same way when I got accepted to an Ivy because I am not from the northeast. But, seriously, you adjust to weather. Don’t give up a Brown education because you don’t like the cold. There are seasons, you know. Spring is much better and fall isn’t too bad. Winter is tough but you have winter break as well to cut off part of it. Brown is an amazing school and if $$$ isn’t an issue it would be a big mistake to give up that opportunity.

Deciding between: Wash U, Brown University, and Davidson College
Leaning towards: Wish I knew :))

d is interested in Economics/Intl Rel/Public Policy. Originally was looking at schools > 4000.00 but liked Davidson when she visited. We will visit Brown this week and Wash U the week of the 21st. She likes the feel of a small Liberal Arts College but would like more offerings…somewhat reserved, doesn’t drink but has no problem going to parties and very social once she feels comfortable, prefers a place with strong academics and where it is fairly easy to get to know professors and students.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Goofball21: Pick one of the ones you got into. Haverford is the closest to an ivy in terms of academic rigor.

Acceptances: Fordham, American, University of Maryland CP, Loyola MD, Loyola University Chicago, FSU

Rejections: Brown, GT, ND, BC (all my favorites…)

Deciding Between: Fordham, American, UMD
Leaning Towards: Fordham and American (not so much UMD because they didn’t have enough on-campus housing for the first semester so I would have to wait until January if I wanted to live on campus!)

I’m still waiting for financial aid info from my new top 3 so that could play a big role. That’s the biggest thing for my parents and I agree, but I’m really interested in a school with the best liberal arts education possible since I don’t really have a specific major in mind.

I’ll probably start with a major in Anthropology but a solid social science/humanities program is really what I’m looking for. And I love big cities and don’t mind cold weather :)
