on these schools. I have been accepted to all of them and have to decide where to go in the fall.

University of South Carolina
University of Delaware
University of Pittsburgh
Virginia Tech
University of Miami
Penn State-University Park
Indiana University

I am going to be majoring in chemistry and will be taking the pre-med path in college. Also, I am from PA, but right now the University of South Carolina will be the cheapest of them all.

UNiversity of Delaware is one of the best in chemistry or is that chemical engineering. From those, I would narrow it down to UDel, USC, Penn State and U Miami

Ahh, I love Penn State.
I heard UDelaware has a gorgeous campus.

I'd personally be deciding between those two.

Btw, congratulations, you got into some great schools!

Just want to congratulate you as well! You were accepted into so many!

Thanks everyone! I didn't exactly apply to the more prestigious colleges, but I picked ones that I knew I would be happy at. Of all my choices, it will most likely come down to UD, USC, or Pitt.

More suggestions/feedback would be appreciated though :)

"Thanks everyone! I didn't exactly apply to the more prestigious colleges, but I picked ones that I knew I would be happy at."

Your happiness can means a LOT! Picking a school for prestige is wrong.

There are many on these forums who can learn from you, myself including.

BTW, congrats on your acceptances.

Ok well they are all sort of different. Miami is the total opposite of say Penn State or U Pitt. Pitt and Penn State are huge schools. Penn State is more a historic ivy looking feel than Miami. Miami is in the tropics and its campus is full of palm trees etc with a nice huge lake and rivers throughout campus.

It really depends on ur taste. I will attend UMiami this Fall and chose it over Ohio State, Purdue Mich State cuz I preferred Miami but it really depends on ur taste of school. As I mentioned they look quite the opposite in feel.

Right now, Penn State and Indiana are pretty much out because they are just too big. And I'm going to Miami next week and South Carolina in April so by then I will have been to the rest of the campuses. THe only problem is that I have liked all of the campuses.

Any other opinions???

pitt indiana or penn state

i would do penn state

Toured USC when S was senior. Was very impressed. S.C. also has mild winters. Would you miss the snow?

They're all good but I vote for .... Pitt. Instate, a great city imo, plus a top 20 medical school with half a dozen major Pitt related hospitals right there.

I have grown up in Columbia, sc, and imo, I wouldn't go there. We have nice weather, very mild winters, but the usc campus is scattered and overall, not a very nice one. although the football program is definetely on the rise, and should be contenders for the sec title in 2-3 years, if that matters to you of course, I just wouldn't recommend USC over those other schools on your list.

most intelligent people from my high school either attend furman, clemson, or go out of state.

Ok now that I see u dont want Huge sized schools schools I would reccommend the following:
-USC: Nice weather, good school (best in SC) and nice campus IMO
- Miami: awesome weather, Coral Gables, Fl is awesome trendy area of Miami, overall its higest ranked with exeption to PSU. One of the best medical schools if ur into medecine. Great campus, similar to the preppy, looking campus of USC. only problem: Tuition is Sky HIGH. :S.
- U Pitt: its instate for u and cheap although Pitt isnt the nicest of towns from what I know. Good name though.

Congratulations on your acceptances. My DD has decided to go to University of South Carolina (Columbia) next year. She thought the campus was beautiful. She liked the town, (I thought it was just ok. I like the town of Charleston much better, although we did not like C of C - VERY worn down, students sitting in halls trying to hear the professor because there were no seats in the classroom), and loved what she saw - students studying under trees in nice weather (campus I think is totally wireless), spontaneous frisbee games, and students who looked for the most part like her. There are many places to eat on campus, and where we did the food was actually good - we were amazed at Stron Thurmond center! My D likes to work out. The football stadium and basketball stadium were amazing. She wants the whole "college experience" is what she finally realized.

She was considering Muhlenberg (which is a much smaller school with a GREAT science program), but after a friend of her's who goes there said that it was great - just like high school, she realized she did not want high school. Another friend said that although the school says they bring in things for the students to do on weekends but don't. She said that she leaves campus a fair part of time to go to NY, and NEVER feels that she missed anything going on at the school. With that said, the friend said (she is a senior) that she received a great education, but would not go there if she had known that the only thing to do was basically study.

My daughter is a good student (3.68, taking honors and AP courses), but did not get into the honors program. Her plan is to get a minimum of a 3.5 next year so that she can reapply for the honors program at USC. Their honors program is considered to be one of the best.

Try to visit if you can, and see if you think that it is a good fit for you. Good luck, and post where you have decided to go!
