What are your social pet peeves?

<p>Whaaaaat? I thought obnoxious had purely negative connotations, and when I looked it up each definition confirmed that (sorry to bring the dictionary into this, but I was completely confused by what I saw). </p>

<p>So why would girls like guys that act obnoxious sometimes? I imagine you’re thinking of guys that act way too self-confident sometimes. But generally I think those are good-looking guys who act that way because their ego has been stroked too much. As soon as you realize a hot guy acts like that it’s a turn-off. Some girls, like the aforementioned ditzy airheads, are willing to put up with the off-putting attitude for the good looks that created it.</p>

<p>I hate:
-smart girls who flirt with pretty bad (habit wise) guys (the girls deserve better)
-FINANCIAL AID (I am considered international student, so I get no freaking aid even though I have lived in the US for 10 years… damn gc come to meh already)
-people who diss death metal without ever listening to it
-people who make stereotypes blindly
-people who pretend to be something they are not
-people who smoke or drink just because they think its cool (its really bad… play guitar instead and shred)</p>

<p>I don’t really hate anyone by the way… I just used the word hate because I feel strongly about those issues. </p>

<p>My issues:
-I am too nice to people. Even if someone acts like a dick to me, I won’t act the same way to him/her.
-I let people take advantage of me. I know that sounds really stupid, but I just can’t be mean lol.
-I don’t talk a lot. In groups I’m the quiet one, but I really don’t have anything mindblowing to talk about. I don’t drink/smoke, so I can’t really join in those little conversations about how wasted I was… and nobody likes death metal, so I can’t really be like “I finally got down my Necrophagist solo BOO YEAH!!!”</p>

<p>oh well. :D</p>

<p>Canadian Related:
People who look down upon the Canadian Military Service (what we do/don’t have, what we do/don’t do)
People who talk and whisper through the Moment of Silence “because it’s not important and it’s pointless since they’re all dead anyways, so who cares?”
People who talk through the National Anthem
People who have ZERO respect for what the troops do.
People who are ignorant towards the Wars and the past in general.
People who take freedom for granted.
People who HATE Canada, could live somewhere else, but choose to live in Canada just to complain about how much they hate it.
People who refuse to take their hat off in front of a picture of the Queen (or take their hat off inside in general)
People who think things like National Anthems, Memorial Services for Military members, and flags being in every classroom (or at least they should) is dumb, stupid and pointless
People who spell things the American way, but live in Canada. I don’t care, it is INCORRECT. </p>

<p>General peeves:
COMPLETE Slobs/Slovenliness. If you’re the over the age of 13. By thirteen you should be able to pick up after yourself.
People do things on PURPOSE to irk people.
People who think it’s “cool” to skip school/skip class constantly, smoke, drink like there’s no tomorrow and are generally slutty.
Girls who do not wear enough clothing.
Said girls who whine about the dress code.
People who INTENTIONALLY act dumb and ditzy because they think it’s cute and attractive and will get them a guy/girl.
Said dumb and ditzy people who ask the same dumb questions on purpose to kill time because they think it’s funny.
People who disrupt class on purpose.
People who censor books (YAY for Canada being awesome and not doing that).
People who are arrogant and snobby
People who are racist/intolerant of differences
People who try to shove their views (religious, political, whatever) down my throat
People who drive and talk/text on their cellphone. I’m sorry but your discussion is NOT more important than lives. It’s NOT HARD to pull over to the side of the road.
Inconsiderate drivers.
People who want to spend every waking moment with you, and do things that only THEY like to do.
People who are inconsiderate of allergies
People who make jokes about mental illnesses, yet know NOTHING about said mental illness.
People who hate you because you’re not as extroverted as they are
People who are obviously not liked by a group of people, yet think they’re your best friend and try and copy you and then tell you what you’re doing wrong and how they’re better than you.
People who underestimate your intelligence.
People who think you’re stupid because you like certain things.
Teachers who insist you plagerised because “you couldn’t POSSIBLY know how to use that word in that context.”
I’m guilty of:
Being WAY too emotional
Having VERY little self-confidence (I’m getting better)
Having NO sense of volume control…when I get excited or mention that someone was talking loudly my level of voice raises.
I forget things half way through a sentence…repeat myself about three times, then stop and move onto a different topic of conversation. (I’m not ditzy, it’s just in my head, it’s already been said and we can move on to a different conversation. My brain works WAY too fast. Thanks ADHD and Bipolar II)
I complain a lot.
I interrupt people sometimes, without even meaning to. I just don’t <em>notice</em> that they weren’t finished their conversation, even if I was following the conversation closely.
Apologising for EVERYTHING, even when it’s not needed.
My grammar is atrocious at times, as well as my spelling.</p>

<p>WOW. I have a lot more pet peeves than I thought.
P.S. I have a whole separate list for cleanliness.</p>

<p>You know, before this thread, I used to think that I didn’t have a major pet peeve. Now after reading part of this thread, I now have made up my mind: it’s people. Thanks a lot CCers :3</p>

<p>No seriously, I love you guys. But with all of these pet peeves, how do you guys function day to day?</p>

<p>i really want to hang out with darts and just talk to random people with him</p>

<p>Pet Peeve: People who jerk off to the military and can’t stand that someone has the tiniest bad thing to say about it.</p>

<p>people who hate people who hate people who hate parties</p>

<p>Hey Logic warrior, what are you trying to say i did understand the word hate in your post but couldn’t understand the rest. :)</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>…This.</p>

<p>People who text message on a date. I have no problem with text messaging in social settings; it’s understandable that everyone has to. However, if I am on a date, I expect my date to be paying full attention to me, as I do to her. I was on a first date with a girl who was consistently text messaging other people, even after I requested her to stop a couple of times. Guess who I didn’t call back.</p>

<p>People who wear clothes that don’t fit them. This applies to both people who wear excessively baggy clothes and tramps who wear tops that are three sizes too small. (And don’t forget obese people squeezing into normal-sized clothes.) I don’t think that any further explanation is needed.</p>

<p>Mouth breathers. I’m sorry, but this is disgusting, loud, and unhealthy.</p>

<p>The person who consistently forgets their textbook. No, champ, I’m not going to let you look off of me for the in-class assignment. I let you do it for the past four classes, and you annoyed the **** out of me by mouth-breathing over my shoulder.</p>

<p>**People who make quotes of and allusions to the most overused clich</p>

<p>-Rude drivers (Ie: All the kids at my school who almost hit other cars just to get out of the parking lot first…)
-Embarrassing people (Cause then I feel embarrased for them and no one likes that feeling. :frowning: )
-People who all look the same because they obviously shop at the same stores and follow trends (I know this is dumb but I can’t help and gag when the fifth gladiator shoe and belted skirt walks by.)
-Stupid people (Which means people who are rude to people-including teachers- in class, or in public)
-Disrespectful people
-People who don’t understand that people have different opinions
-Extremists (Liberals, Conservatives, or even non-political stuff… all of 'em)
-People who use the word people too much (oops…)</p>

<p>What I probably do:
-A little ditzy sometimes
-Don’t like to party and have some same lame excuse like “I don’t do stuff I don’t wanna do”
-I’m a grammar nazi sometimes :(</p>
