Right now I've been waitlisted by Brigham Young and University of Minnesota, I'd really like to get accepted by both of them.

So far I've sent in letters of recommendation, semester transcripts, and talked to admissions counselors. I also sent in letters about how I was interested in the schools.

My only recommendations for getting off the UM-TC waitlist is talking to your admissions counselor and visiting campus. They are pretty tight with their waitlist and it takes someone pretty extraordinary to get you off. Bug your admissions counselor and tell them how much being a Gopher means to you...but that's just me...

Yes, my daughter's GC was instrumental in getting her off both of her waitlists. We also made a commitment to one school that our daughter would absolutely go if she were to get off the waitlist (her GC suggested it and convey the message to the adcom). Do you need FA? I think in our case it also helped that we wouldn't need FA. I would also in touch with your local admission representative.
