What ATM's are located on campus

Please let me know which banks have ATM's on campus, and which buildings they are located in, if known.

Thank you.

This is a really good question. My entering freshman is also unsure where to bank, if there is a credit union which doesn’t charge for ATM withdrawals on campus or across the street (perhaps on Fannin or Main - there should be something in Hermann Medical Plaza e.g. which is so close to Lovett and Will Rice). And maybe for students he shouldn’t be thinking about traditional banks since the monthly service fees will eat up your savings - are there alternatives (banking through discover e.g.??) that are better for students. This post on a similar topic seems out of date: <a href=“banks at rice - Rice University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/65440-banks-at-rice.html</a></p>

Chase Bank has an ATM in the Student Center by the bookstore. We set DD with Chase Student Checking with Debit card. There are no fees with ATM withdrawals from a Chase ATM. If you use Chase, make sure you’re a signer also so you can deposit monies into it from a Chase location near you. The Chase account made sense for our children since they’re on campus without car.

@123txmom Thank you. We will check into a no-fee account for our son.

So Chase has no monthly fees while in college for their student checking accounts? Normally they are expensive at $12/month fees.

I checked Chase website <a href=“Chase College Checking Account | Student Banking | Chase”>Chase College Checking Account | Student Banking | Chase; and as along as they’re college students there is no fee for 5 years. $6 monthly fee otherwise (ie they drop out or graduate.)

Another parent vote for the Chase accounts. In addition to the Chase student checking accounts, our sons at Rice also have a Chase VISA credit card. My husband and I are co-signers on the cards.

We lowered the monthly credit limit on the credit cards. The Chase rep was a bit confused by this, since most people want their credit increased. The credit cards have come in very handy.

The Chase people were very nice yesterday when we opened up the account.

We set up a Chase checking account for our son who will be attending Rice this fall, but they did not offer a credit card that didn’t require us to co-sign. He was able to get credit card without parents co-signing from Citibank. We wanted this so our son could start building good credit. Our college age daughter was able to get a no fee credit card without parent co-sign from Bank of America when she started college two years ago.

As a freshman, my son never applied for a no fee, Chase Freedom credit card, so I don’t know how strict they are with students with no credit history. (Although @parenting3‌’s experience implies they are strict about this.) I can offer this, though. After two years with us as a co-signer, he applied online for a Chase Freedom card under his own name, and was accepted immediately.

Chase has an ATM in the library as well.

The credit card is hit or miss. I got one (Chase Freedom), no questions asked when I started in 2006. My sister who matriculated in 2009 was denied one. Things have likely relaxed since then, but not sure.
