what average of gpa do i need to transfer to newhouse in syracuse university?

3.0? 3.3? some schools in syracuse accept students with low gpa but i havent heard much about newhouse.
Does anybody know? any reponse would be helpful for everyone who is trying to transfer to syracuse including me.
(i’m currently attending 4year university)

Please… I need to know that

Newhouse is one of the most competitive schools at Cuse. Transferring in won’t be easy. They only accept up to 30 transfer students a year. The average stats for first year students applying include a 3.8 GPA, SAT scores in the 1290 range without the writing, and ACT scores between 28 and 30. If you have at least that plus some then you probably have an okay chance of being accepted.

@Syracuse19 thanks for your response. I heard transfer and regular decision has different average gpa. I heard it was lower than 3.8

I couldn’t find any stats for transfer students, but it doesn’t make since that with them being so selective that they’d allow people who have lower stats than first-year students. The only reason that I can think of that being is the difference between a high school GPA and a college GPA. I’m not sure what the average GPA is in Newhouse, but you need a 3.5 to make the Dean’s List if that gives you any indication. You can try looking at their website though.

I’m currently a student at SU and considered transferring into Newhouse. Newhouse requires a high gpa. I know it’s a little different for outside transfers because you have to get into the actual university too. But transferring into Newhouse is primarily GPA based. They look to see how many spots are available and then establish a gpa cutoff based on that. The cutoff has ranged from 3.4-3.8. My adviser told me to get a 3.7 and that should get me in but even that was not guaranteed. Spring semester tends to have a lower cutoff than fall.
