What "BAD" details can I omit on my common app?

In my rocky period I’m already prepared to explain, I just remembered that I took a single class at a community college, failed, got no credits. Never went back. (I got really sick) It says to list colleges you got credit for. Does this count if I didn’t get credit? I really dont want to include it if I don’t need to.

Additionally, a year or two before that I attended a DIFFERENT community college, was put on academic probation, but I’m no longer on academic probation there and I am back at that school getting 4.0s. Does this need to be listed? Does this count as disciplinary action?

Are either of these information that colleges will find?

No, I believe it says to list classes that you took for credit, not classes for which you received credit.

You need to

This really depends upon how the question is phrased. If the question asks “have you ever been on academic probation?” then the answer is yes, you need to disclose. But then, it’s not like you can hide it anyway, since academic probation is the result of low grades, and they can tell that from the transcript.

Alternatively, if the question asks if you have received a disciplinary violation related to academic or behavioral misconduct, then the answer is no, since low grades is not an academic misconduct.

Grades will definitely be discovered since they are in the National Student Clearinghouse.

Thank you for your help. This is the exact information I needed. I think the old CC I attended probably still has me as a no-show from years ago, from that one class. Do I need to contact them to clear it up?

What does “clear it up” mean? Listvit in your applications. No matter what the school has.
