What Bathing Suit Are You Wearing This Year? - NOT looking for recommendations!

I ordered board shorts and the swim tights from LE in two sizes. I think they will be delivered on Sunday. I took advantage of a 50% off sale. I’ll return what doesn’t work. Our Sears closed so no local spot to return. I wasn’t a big Sears fan but the LE section was great.
I also ordered two tops and one bottom from Athleta which should also come Sunday.
The last round of swimsuit purchases a few years ago included several from Target. The ones from Carve Design have held up much better. For one pieces I’ve had good luck with La Bianca brand.
My favorite bikini top was a random purchase years ago from KMart. It was a Kathy Ireland brand and it fit great and lasted a lot of years. I don’t know if either is around anymore.

I am a large woman. I wear an old suit with board shorts or a separate top with the shorts. I don’t like showing my thighs. If I’m not going in the water, I’d even wear a sundress to the beach. Heck, just to sit there and relax and read, why not?

I think you truly need a SWIM suit i.e. like a competitive style. They have the racer backs for a reason.

I got my current black bathing suit at Target last year. So, so many selections - mix/match top/bottom sizes. It’s great!

My daughter and I both really like the 4.5" swim shorts from TomboyX. I pair mine with a tankini top from Target but will probably find a long-sleeved rashguard to go with it soon because I would prefer the extra sun protection.

Was at our Target this afternoon and all the swimsuits were on sale. I picked up a mix and match top and bottom for $25 total.

I don’t shop
Much for clothes at Target but both my girls will on occasion like to look there for extra things. I have to admit I’ve always hated their dressing rooms though…I think I’d really hate trying on swimsuits there!

Target dressing rooms beat ARC (where I did once get a really nice tropic print fringed tankini-ish top that I wear with shorts).

Good question. Yes, I order my usual sizes or go +1, but if there is less give in the item then I might switch to W (women’s sizes). I have the option of regular and plus when I size up.

I would size up in the board shorts for sure. The shorts part has less give than the waist. I’ve thought about buying a 2nd pair and will size up if I do. The leggings are my usual for LE pants so I didn’t size up for those. I own a lot of swim skirts and shorts, but I find myself reaching for the board shorts all the time.

For more on swim tops. I have this LE top (V-neck, wrap, underwire below) and like the underwire and adjustable straps, but to me it feels low cut so I have mostly worn it for short pool sessions.

Last weekend I spent about an hour in the Keyhole top and thought it was good though it has soft cups. Its more than a typical shelf bra, but might not be all that you want. I read the negative reviews but have not experienced the same issues. My top has maybe 3 layers so the overall effect is like sports bra style compression. Its supportive if not lifting and my keyhole stays closed so not very revealing. I feel like I need to give it a longer trial though.

I’m debating between the keyhole again this weekend with the leggings and trying out the flutter top. Maybe I’ll give each one half the day.

Another swim top I will happily recommend is from Coco Reef. The Ultra Fit Bra Sized Underwire Tankini. Mine is an older, polka dot version but looks very much the photo. The fabric and built in bra are light weight and comfortable. I did not size up. I like the fit but try to save it for less active water days. I think of it as “nice” vs rugged like some of my LE tops. It’s held up a few years so far and going strong.

None of the dressing rooms at the Targets near me are available any more. They say they don’t have enough staff to keep them open. It’s not just the need to monitor them but also to put back discarded clothes. Luckily Target still has a generous return policy.

A fan of coco reef, like the option of the built in bra, can never have too much support

They must have decided to adopt Costco’s approach to selling clothes!

Thanks @LizHolt. I found an LE store near me and spent some time Friday night. I did not like the swim shorts but found a top, and a skirted bottom. I even bought a one-piece tank for laps at the pool. I usually wear shorts or skirts as I hate the way the regular bottoms cut at the thigh. This one worked much better!

Happy swimming all!

Thanks to this thread, I checked out the LE website and found they had short-sleeve rash guards, which I have been searching for but haven’t found in the stores where I have looked. I like that the short-sleeve version keeps my back, shoulders, chest and all the hard-to-reach-with-sunscreen places covered, without the heavier feeling and warmth of a long-sleeve garment.

I have discovered LandsEnd isn’t free returns. I ordered both the swim tights and board shorts. I’ll keep both in the smaller size and return the others.
My Athleta order partially came. The top that someone posted on here is cute on but I don’t find it comfortable. I’ll keep the bottoms I ordered and I’m still waiting on a 2nd top.

Is the LE return charge per item or per package? That could certainly influence my plan of attack if I ever order a LE suit (they do seem to have great selection of options!).

HerRoom is discounting their clearance suits additional 20%. If you know your style/size, this might be a good time to get some extras.

Per order,I think the label says 6.95 will be deducted from the refund.

I love those high neck tankini tops from LE too although it is true that they can be tough to get off when wet. I pair them with board shorts (5" or 9") when I don’t intend to go in the water or fitted swim shorts (that don’t billow in the hot tub/ocean/pool) if I do. I find that regular bathing suits creep up, dig in or are otherwise not all that comfortable. The shorts relieve that discomfort.

My favorite LE high neck tankini is from a few years ago and the print is no longer available. I also have a solid navy and another print that is also no longer available. I wear them with this style board shorts:

The fitted swim shorts I have were purchased at Target last summer but I don’t really care for them and will be trying these from LE:
