What book should I get to prepare for world/us history

Hi what book should I get for US/world history.

It would be nice if you can suggest two books: one being a textbook while another being an exercise 'mock test' book.

Thanks

I can't speak for the effectiveness of certain books for US, since I haven't taken the test yet, but the Barron's book for World helped me tremendously. By just doing the sample problems at the end of each chapter and a few practice tests, I was able to pull off a 4 with relative ease.

Opps I meant sat 2 ;/

no interest in AP.

tried the us history on the sat 2 book. only pulled a 670 -_-

help!!!!!!

For AP World History, I would suggest using the Princeton Review book. It's straightforward, well organized, and very representative of the actual test. If you want to supplement that book with additional info or can't find it, I'd try using the Kaplan review book. While I trust the Princeton Review company more from prior experience, Kaplan does have some great charts and tables to help you organize the info as I remember from last year. Good luck on the exam!

Are any of you actually going to do something with history later in your life?

For the World History SAT II I used the Princeton Review book and pulled off a 770... However, I think the Barron's book (heard from others) is much tougher, and does a better job covering early Middle Eastern history (which came up a lot, and Princeton Review doesn't cover at all... I don't like that there's only one practice test, but it's alright...

Barron's is nice for this test.

whats easier world or us?

World is....well that seems to be the general sentiment.

I've used both Barrons and PR for APWH, and my take on it is that if you are covering the course through self-study, Barrons would be a good book to get, but if you are covering the course by yourself, PR should be very adequate. I'm using Kaplan's for the SAT II WH in June...dunno how good it is though yet.
