For my SAT [bombed it, did not prepare] I got:
640 Math
630 Critical Reading
590 Writing

What books should I get to prepare? I feel like writing is my greatest weakness, especially sentence error identification. I need practice overall. When you list the books, please tell me where I can get them as well ex: Barnes & Noble, Online, Borders.

Also, would you suggest I take an SAT course?

The general consensus around here is that Rocket Review is the best all-around prep book. I would also pick up the Blue Book for practice tests.

SAT courses are expensive, but they are worth it in a way if you find that you can’t really self-study. It certainly doesn’t hurt so I would take a prep course if you have the money.

For critical reading, go with Rocket Review. I bought this book at borders but they only had 1 copy so you might have to buy it online. For Math, i would recommend Grubers. I also bought that at Borders

For practice questions you may try PrepHub. They have free user contributed test prep questions. I also think just practicing ALOT makes a huge difference, after you understand the basics.

I agree with a previous commentator, SAT prep courses are really expensive and if they can be avoided they should. But it all depends on how self motivated you are and how much you need to learn the basics.
