Are Barrons SAT Writing and Barrons SAT IIC Math good for preparing for writing and the 2c? Any others better? Which ones?

stingray, y r u pushing meylani so hard?
tell us honestly, how many mistakes did you find in 15 tests?
Betcha I could point to more

Hate to disagree withi you on the American part: general math education across the pond is superior (I am not talking about olympiads and gifted programs over here).
15 tests is a huge undertaking/accomplishments, right, and a credit to Meylani is due, but if the book is intended to efficiently help, it should be teaching self-studiers by demonstrating methods and technics at least through solutions.
I was not aware of online corrections for 15 tests (I know about ones for 10 tests).
what's the link?
quote: "There is just one 2C test, around."
what do you mean?

I went to Amazon.com, to where Meylani's book is sold. All of the reviews that gave the book 5/5 stars look completely falsified. When you click on "See all my reviews" for one of these "false" reviews, it shows that these people ONLY reviewed this book and nothing else on Amazon.com. IMO, it seems like a bunch of Meylani's friends got together and did this, but thats just my two cents.

For one, I gave him a 5 star review because he deserves it and for two, stop jumping to conclusions. I forget my account and have to create a new one every time I review a book (I never bother to write it down)

Sheldon, you are right: many 5* reviews are fakes.
At one point amazon deleted 2/3 of reviews on "15 tests" because they all looked like written by the same person.

Hey, firehose, thanks for the info!

Your 05.31 thread asks "Rusen Meylani 15 Realistic 2C Tests, 680 Good?" - you scored pretty good. How was your real score in June?
You must've studied Chapter 2 "Most common graphing calculator techniques". Right before that chapter full page 10 is dedicated to "sat II math with ti" book.

Thanks to your 05.28 thread "how I can learn to use TI 83 for SAT Math 1C and 2C; very urgent please!!!" we found out about the "sat II math with ti" book.

You started two 06.09 threads asking for Meylani's site re: tests giveaways.
Is not Meylani's site address right on page (i) of "15 tests"?
Did you find it?

are very good.

If you read that post and got confused what info I was thanking firehose for, I am as confused as you are, but for a different reason.

After the post #5 by stix2400 there was a post #6 by firehose1234
(http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/search.php?searchid=1116459).
It was a long answer to the post #4 (sheldon0789), explaining that Meylani books are very good and 3* stars reviews on amazon are written either by incompetent educators or competitors.

I posted my reply (it became post #7), and now I am discovering that firehose's post is gone, and mine got a number 6.
His post was not offensive, so nobody could report it as one.
Why it disapeared is a complete mystery.

I think, this forum should be open for all discussions relevant to the SATs, and sharing opinions on various SAT prep books is a very valuable ingredient in it.

There are several threads where Meylani books are compared to other SAT II math books, and results are not always favorable.
You don't have to trust somebody else's opinion though: buy Meylani book, and it might work for you.
That's what IvyLeague99 is doing
(http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=1012004#post1012004) -
and you can do it too (at your own risk, so to speak).

Barron's SAT II Math IIC is a pretty good book. Its hard and it has some mistakes in it, but it (over)prepares you well. I used that one and the free online Sparknotes for my prep, which worked well.

i used princeton review's book for the math IIC and got a 710... it presented relatively complex material in an easy to understand way

Are these CC maintenance glitches, or higher powers are involved?

My current posts #2 and #3 used to be #3 and #5, written in response to another active Meylani proponent, stingray.

Now stingray's posts #2 and #4 are gone, just like firehose's, and it appears as if I am talking to the voices in my head.

The first link in my post #8 stopped working too!
People, what's the 800 number for the Witness Protection Program?

To make my comments in post #6 easier to follow, here are the links to the firehose1234 posts I referred to.
Follow them now, before they get cleaned out!
Notice their order.

The more we know about Meylani and other authors'/companies' books, the better decisions we can make on what to include in the SAT math prep plan.

Hi gcf101,

The reason why I have joined this forum is
1. I find this form very helpful for reaching the kids who prefer self-study and who may occasionally need help and
2. to get accurate (and not biased) feedback on my books, whether they might be positive or negative would not be a problem for me.

Your opinion on my books is very valuable for me; I will be very happy if you post them here.

Best of luck in your education if you are a student or in your career if you are an educator.

Rusen Meylani.

what difference do those two books make? Why "10 Realistic" is more expensive than "15 Realistic"? Do both of them have the explanations?
I used Barron one on June, and I got 740. Actually, i think 800 shouldn't be hard for me. However, 740 stuck me down. I complained about Barron's difficulty and the practice there are so far away from the real test, which flung me a wrong impression about the real test, so that i didn't prepare well. Now, i want to take the test again, and I really want to get 800 next time. I heard Rusen Meylani's book is really good, so i want to try. How much will that help? And which book should I buy? He has too many books!
