So I just got my SAT and PSAT results back. I took the November 2014 exam and got a score in the 1800s and got my PSAT score which was in the 190s. I felt like the November exam was ridiculously hard, and I was very upset at my PSAT being so low, because I really wanted to make the cutoff.

I will say that I have improved....gone from 1500s to 1800s. But, I'm averaging around high 500s to low 600s for reading, middle to high 600s for math, and low to middle 600s for writing. I also got an 8 on sat writing essay. I am desperately looking for ways to change these scores to 2200-2400. It's strange because when I take practice tests at home I usually get 2200s. What books can help me get those scores based on my current scores?

I got Erica Meltzer's Ultimate Writing Guide and the Critical Reader and I hope it helps, what are your thoughts on those? I've ran through all 10 Collegeboard tests also. How can I get my math up from the 600s to 800? Is Dr. Chung's, PWN, and Stever Warner good? And my gosh I'm so bad at reading what can I do to improve that? I have the grammatix pdf book, how's that book? Also how is Barrons 2400? I've found a lot of SAT quizlets that I want to practice with and got the Larry Kreiger 300 Essential Words.

I can tell you for the Math, Dr.chung is pretty good, but don’t only rely on that. A good combo was Princeton review with Dr.chung. Dr.Chung focuses on the hard question and the practice tests are hard, so i would combine this with a medium level book such as princeton review which will give you some more training for easier questions.

I used Erica Meltzer’s Ultimate Writing Guide for writing and I thought it was really helpful. I didn’t find Dr. Chung’s that helpful; I have a strong math background so I mostly relied on taking a lot of practice tests to make sure I knew everything for the math section. For the verbal section, I also took a lot of practice tests but I also made sure to go over the Barron’s vocab lists.

Oh okay! I have been working through Erica Meltzer and see that it is a good book! And I agree, Dr. Chung’s is hard. How about Steve Warner math books? And has anyone used the Critical Reader and if so what are your thoughts about it?
