What books, sites, etc, do you recommend for a more indepth look at colleges?

Of course, talking to an actual student, is great, but this is not always possible. What tools should I be using to narrow down on my college list?

Use the Fiske Guide. Its great!!!

The Best 368 Colleges by Princeton Review and The Insider’s Guide to Colleges by the Yale Daily News are also very helpful.

Fiske and Best 368 Colleges by PR are my two favorite guides.

[Colleges That Change Lives](http://www.ctcl.org/)

The new Princeton Review book comes out July 28th

The College ******* series is good. They all sound a little alike (there’s never enough parking, etc.), but when you compare schools you can spot some real differences.

The web site with college reviews can sometimes be good (not able to post link).

Obviously CC, Princeton Review, Fiske Guide, theU.com, Collegeprow., collegeclicktv.com, youniversity.tv, student s review.com (Without the spaces).

Princeton Review, *****.com

The Student’s Guide to Colleges by Jordan Goldman was very helpful because it gave student perspectives on the top 100 colleges in the nation. Unfortunately, it was written 4-5 years ago, so it may be a bit outdated. However, the author has also put up a website where college students can post reviews of their school… it is uni go. com (without the space; i had to put a space because CC likes to censor their competition).

^LOL. yeah un igo .com is good. i used the u . com too :)

Although the title makes its conservative leanings clear, *Choosing the Right College *is surprisingly helpful (more so than Princeton Review, at least).

Sample: http://www.isi.org/college_guide/sample/2008/harv.pdf

Fiske Guide is the best.

Hmm… the main one that I would recommend is:

u ni go . com

Just take out the spaces. =]

Last year, out of curiosity, I bought the Princeton’s Review, but personally, I think Fiske’s guide is quantum leaps better. It’s much more in depth, much clearer and more straightforward, and much more polished than the Princeton guide.

To an extent, I also rely simply on individual colleges’ websites, but sometimes those are more biased than the unaffiliated review books.

Here’s another vote for Fiske; it was hands down the most useful.

Anything BUT CC.

FYI The Fiske Guide’s haven’t changed in years…at least PR resurveys students every 3 years
