I got a 30 (totally bombed science with a 25 =P), what books should i use to bring up my scores? besides Real ACT, because that only has 3 tests and I've done 2 already....

Help?!

Help?!

I’m ordering Barron’s ACT 36 for my second time. I also have 1,296 ACT practice questions (of which about 800 are left) and cracking the ACT(all questions done) from princeton review from last time.

I liked Princeton Review and did not like Kaplan.

I used PR and got a 32 (I got a 26 on math though because it’s my weak point). My Science was 30, Reading 34, and English 36.

I would use PR. I find it pretty good for review and practice.

bummmp. anyone else?

While I’m at it:
E -33
M - 32
R - 31

I need the help to. I have a 35 math, 32 eng, 32 reading, only 29 science. Someone with a 36 on science post! >.>

I suppose Rixs and I pretty much have the same background. I used PR the first time and got a 32 Composite… (English: 36; Math: 30; Reading: 34; Science: 26). I feel like PR is good for some things, and it will definitely help you improve your score, but it won’t really help you go above and beyond for scores of 30+.

I’ve decided to try using Barron’s the second time around. I got their ACT Math and Science Workbook, and I’m very happy with it so far. If anything, Barron’s will over prepare you… but in the world of standardized tests and college applications, I don’t see how that is a bad thing.

Barron’s does overprepare you in a way, but it gives you a lot of information that isn’t relevent to the actual test at all (especially math and science workbook).

Also, there are plenty of questions on the ACT, especially in math, that are not covered by Barron’s. The Math and Science Workbook even says that another source should be used to complement the book.

Have you used the book as well? I’m using it now, and I’ve actually had quite the opposite reaction. I don’t feel like all that much is irrelevant… I would agree that it might provide superfluous information if you were someone who had to memorize every equation and definition thrown at you, but I would hope that most have the good sense not to waste their time in that way. Barron’s is challenging, more so than the actual ACT, but I feel like it trains you to think critically in Math and Science.
