I'm going to take the SAT for the first time in November, and I've been browsing through the study aids in Barnes & Noble whenever I've been going, and I was thinking I'd buy the Collegeboard book definitely, and I'm not sure whether to use PR or Sparknotes. I liked the way both of them presented the material, so I'm just wondering which one you thought was better before I finally buy one or the other?

And if you really liked any other titles, I'd really appreciate the advice. :)

buy PR...better strategies and Sparknotes can be read online anyway.....on the other hand RocketReview is much better but when i went to B&N they only had one copy....so you might have to order online

I'm not sure if strategy and such is so useful. By all means read up strategies a few days before the test (so that it sticks in your head) but don't base your study only on strategy like some people do. The best way to improve is just to practice so for that purpose get PR 11 practice tests and the CB blue book and you're set.

Strategy can definitely come in handy if the fundamentals are failing you here and there, or just to speed things up. I thought PR's POE (process of elimination for newbies) strategies were really helpful...saves a ton of time.

Definitely get the CB book, and the PR strategy book. If you want extra tests, then get the 11 practice tests book as virtuoso suggested. It has explanations and the CB book doesn't. In fact, I would do those tests before doing too many CB tests, so you can figure out where you're going wrong and why before using up too many CB tests.
