What can an immediate graduate do with a computer science major?

Say I graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in computer science. What careers could I immediately be offered that pay over $100,000? I apologize if this question is glowing with ignorance because I have no knowledge about college at all and I'm a high schooler. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure all jobs have a starting pay, then slowly build up. You’re not likely to find a starting pay of $100k or more, especially with a computer science degree.

Very few new bachelor’s degree graduates are paid that much. Those who are paid that much tend to be very exceptional ones, regardless of their majors.

There are lots of job and career outlook resources available online to research what types of jobs and estimated salaries for certain majors and degrees. Your guidance counselor should have had at least one course in career counseling and should be able to point you to some of the resources. If not you can go to a local career center (most states have them scattered in various communities or do an online search.

There are software engineering jobs at a handful of firms that will pay you that much, esp if you factor in bonus, however you really need to be the most competitive of applicants looking good on your resume, acing your technical interview and also way above average in how you handle yourself, think on your feet etc. likely you will have a very good internship or two where you contributed something to the team, or you might be a competition winning coder or published researcher.
