What can be the real hook for someone who wants to go to Ivy league schools? Forget about all genius crap that is possible only for few. Any ideas?

The real hook? What do you mean? A hook for people who are not pure geniuses in school? OR a hook as in you are a real person rather than a manufactured application to look good for college?

What kind of hooks would look good for someone who wants to major in either english or architecture?

published works are great for english. for it to be a "hook," it'd probably need to be a best seller or pulitzer prize winner. but anything helps. the less stellar your academics are, the more outstanding your non-academic factors need to be (and vice versa).

don't know about architecture.

um yes, because you need a pulitzer prize to get into harvard. Just publishing one is really good.

While you're at it, you can design and build a skyscraper.

I agree that getting your work published would be a realistic hook for English.

For architecture... get an internship?

How can I possibly get my book published?

Yeah, I really don't understand where all these kids get internships. I really want to do a biomedical internship, but all the places I've asked are like "Sorry. College students only." It's really frustrating! I don't have the kind of connections that other kids have. How can I get an internship?
