Just explain to your parents that it would be better to work right now and wait until they have lived there long enough for you to get instate tuition.
Unless they have the money for your tuition or want you to take out loans. With that EFC you currently don’t qualify for FA.
If you decide to go back to school I would focus your energy on the STEM club, even a small scholarship should help.
You could also take out a partial student loan for $3000 if you get the scholarship and then pay it off with a summer job. Or work on the weekends while in school as well.
