So I missed several days of school near the end of the marking period including 2 big tests. I had two days between when I came back to school and when grades had to be in. The day I came back I gave him a doctor's note for why I was absent and also a note from home explaining what was wrong in more detail. I actually had a VERY severe case of food poisoning... that my school's lunch gave me :).

Anyways, he told me not to worry about it and I could simply make it up the next week and he would count it as exempt on the report card until I made it up. Well Report Card's came out Friday and guess what... F. I went and spoke to him about it (We get them 2nd block and I have him 4th block) and he claims he gave me ample time to make them up and I violated the late work policy.

He said I could make them up for Extra Credit on this new Marking Period but that the F would remain. I'm outraged. What can I do?

There's not a whole lot you can do...was this a semester report card/will it go on your transcript?

If yes...go to the teacher again and CALMLY remind him of what happened. If that doesn't work, go to a counselor/someone in administration. Again, REMAIN CALM...freaking out and making a scene won't get you anywhere. Have the doctor's note with the date of absence handy so they can't say you're making it up. If that STILL doesn't work, get your parents involved.

If no...calm down. Just make it up before semester grades come out. Still try and talk to him, but remember that it won't have a lasting effect.

This was just one marking period, but an F would absolutely ruin my grade. I've tried talking to him calmly and he just shoots me down. The F won't go on my transcript, but if it remains the best I could get for the class is a C/2 which would ruin my GPA.

He also has the only copy of the doctor's note which he now says he does not have. Could I ask the doctor for another copy?

Go to administration...whether it's a counselor or a principal (though they're normally a lot harder to see). And bring a parent...they tend to listen more to parents than to students. I'd recommend having the note before you go, though. Then you have some solid proof.

You might also want to request that the teacher attend...in fact, go to the teacher and say, "Would you mind discussing this with me, one of my parents, and the principal?"

Sometimes just that is enough to call their bluff.

Yeah, why he would do this doesn't make sense. He has a vendetta against me because I told the administration about how he runs his class (he openly admitted he cheats on his wife and regularly does pot). He spends the whole class period talking about his personal life and his beloved San Francisco (I'm from Virginia) rather than teaching the material. So I told the the administration and this is how he's taking it out on me?
